one thing wrong with going to the beach in Winter.... it's bloody cold getting under the vehicle to hose all that sand and salt out when you get home. I needed to stand in the sun for about 20 minutes the other weekend trying to warm my feet back up after doing my fourby, they were freezing cold...lol...it doesn't seem as bad a job to do in Summer.
The thing is Mal, I'm going back to Fraser in five weeks on a solo trip, Tossing up whether to just do a quick go over or give it the usual full clean down ? [ Dont think I can live with just giving it a light go over till I get back off that one, it wouldnt feel right ] .

i went to Bribe the weekend before Fraser,  can't say I bothered going overboard cleaning it from there....just a quick hose down underneath at 8 p.m when we got home, that was bloody cold...lol.
5 weeks is a bit different though, I'd be giving it several good flush outs and a wash ASAP.

Kids were having a sleep I yesterday so I got some shed time. Planned to shorten the brake lines on two bikes, having purchased the small parts a couple of weeks ago. Could not find them, but the workspace got a good tidy up after looking for the parts for ages. Guess the only way I'm going to find them now is to go and buy some new ones. They'll be guaranteed to turn up 5min after I get back with the new bits.

Cool....I had 23 boxes around the yard at last count, but they are made out of cheap ply and have twisted / warped / fallen apart over time. I've been gathering a big pile of hollow logs to replace them all, just need to find the shed time for that project.

Biggest drama I have with them is keeping the indian minors under control.

lm only new at this gig of nesting boxes . l have only built 37 to date . l use 13mm pine laminated sheets  . The pine  are cut up to size  , glued & nailed
Treated pine in a No No  so that's out . Ply wood is a waste of time . l have 1 client that is using ply boxes cause they were $2.50 cheaper than my quote .

Yep, got a trap and have caught up to 20 at a time when they were at their worst. I used to be forever up a ladder cleaning the buggers out as soon as I saw them nesting, but they just keep rebuilding the nest. Now I let them go until their eggs have hatched.........then the butcher birds and kookaburra's get a good feed  ;D and it is too late in their season to re-nest, so the breeding cycle is broken.

To hang the boxes, I use a bit of fence wire fed through some garden hose with a trampoline spring on one end. The spring allows the tree to grow without the wire ring-barking it.

Knocked up a battery box for the back of the BT50, for my two new 175Ah batteries. The largest commercial boxes I could find suited 130Ah, and these batteries are a lot bigger than that. Front and back walls are 12mm ply, while the ends, top and bottom are all 19mm ply. I haven't done anything fancy re connectors at this stage, as I just needed it finished for a trip at the end of the month.

Cheers,
Bruce

This weekend I serviced my Mitsubishi pajero, its my work car. Changed oils and filters.

I then proceeded to change the front and rear pads and change the brake fluid
I have found the lights slightly mediocre on dark country roads.

So now I have bought some new led lights for the Amarok, I took the old light bar off the amarok

I also got some old lightforce 140 spotlights from the brother in law and fitted them to the Pajero

I discovered the light bar would not fit between the posts of the Pajero bullbar, so had to do some inventive fitting. I'm pretty happy with it though. It doesn't sit forward of the bar so I should be safe with the law, and no longer scared of the dark

On a serious note, I can't believe how much better my brakes are, not that they seemed bad, just now they must be like new. Amazing how you don't notice slight changes over time

Hi,
The new NBN modem was bigger than my old ADSL one, so I decided to tidy things up off the bench.

Took a few bricks out and made a box.

Put a ventilated door on it to keep it tidy.

Cheers
