A new car!
I've mentioned that the Territory had been annoying us with a niggly little unfindable fault, that would turn the power steering off, but which nobody (including 2 Ford dealers!) has been able to track down
In the couple of weeks just before we left on our trip, it played up just about every time we started the car, so I said then, that as soon as we get home, we're replacing the car!
Strangely enough, it only played up once on the entire trip, right up till the last week, when the steering, & also the reverse sensors, starting hiccuping again.
Earlier, when we'd said we were going to change cars, BiL mentioned that a mate of his (whom we've also met while camping
) was talking about getting rid of his MU-X, due to health issues, so we said please keep us posted!
Talking to BiL during that last week, when it was playing up again, he said that Paul had decided to sell teh car later this year, knew we were interested, so would keep us in mind.
Then got a call from BiL, Thursday last week, to say Paul had decided to sell right away, so would we like to give him a ring!
Went down, checked it out & said yes, please
2017 LST (top of the range), 4-cyl 3l turbo diesel, which he'd set-up for a trip to the Cape with bull bar, 9" spots, HD recovery points, 2" lift, alloy wheels, brand new tyres, 12000lb winch, 2-way, 100Ah auxillary battery via DC-DC charger, roof rack & awning (including walls & floor!). Unfortunately though, Covid hit when they were due to leave, then he had heart problems & has now got Parkinson's, so their travelling days are over
To be honest, it's probably way too much car for us, as we're not likely to ever make use of all of that, but, at $37500, it was way too good an offer to knock back!
Picked it up yesterday (& it's actually slightly smaller than the Territory, so fits better in the garage!
).
Will now have to try to sort out the Territory's issues & sell that, possibly even to Ford
(although I know they won't give us much
)
