We did the same years ago.
It's like kicking them out of home, without actually kicking them out...
No. 2 son went for interview for apprenticeship in Melbourne when nearly 19. Had been working as a labourer after finishing VCE whilst trying to find apprenticeship.
At interview was asked how would Mum cope if he had to move to Melbourne. He said Mum always said they hsd to move out at 18, so he had already over stayed is tenancy.
He got the job, and moved to Melbourne, but Mr nearly independant still had to ring up Mum so she could order a pizza for him. She declined, and constructivly explained that he was probably capable of that task himself.
No. 3 son got a trainship in Melbourne when he was only 17 and moved in with No. 2 son.
No. 2 son rings up one evening all concerned because No. 3 son wasn't home yet, and wasn't answering his phone.
A couple of hours later No. 3 son wonders 8n with half eaten pizza.
Where had he been?
On way home from train went past a masage parlour, so went in for a massage after his "hard day" at school, then saw a pizza shop so got himself a pizza. Not a worry in the world.
