Caravan is sold so what next... thinking Modcon ecomate
« on: December 30, 2015, 03:59:51 PM »
Well the caravan had spent nearly a year collecting dust so stuck it on the market but as it hadnt sold coming up to christmas holidays i took it camping instead of the camper trailer.... of course Murphys law I had heaps of enquiries when we were away so once back gave it a quick clean... one couple came and had a look and another couple from Melbourne that i had been exchanging messages for weeks made an offer subject to flying up and viewing it then first couple made an offer ..similar money but they were local so it should be picked up tomorrow.... the problem is everyone loved the week that we just had away and having the caravan with all the storage in the world and 1 hr pack up I dont think the camper trailer will cut it anymore.
So back to the drawing board on what next... partners kids are old enough to sleep in a tent but my 2 when I can get them out still sleep inside... so sleeping needs to cater for 2 plus sometimes 2 but meal time there could be 6 or 8 with a lot of different needs...vegetarians and meatasaurus so for a week we need to carry a lot of food  bbq  etc etc... large table to be under cover and a lot of beer and wine space. ... I was buying the modcon 3 yrs ago when work took me out west and bought the caravan but with a $20k budget the modcon is now out but their ecomate range affordable. ..just unsure on the storage and catering needs.. have to wait until Monday before I can go hassle them once again.... need a beer after typing all that on the phone

I know a bloke selling a Modcon Rear fold soft floor that will easily house 4 munchkins asleep inside, or nil.
Here is a pic of one just below....  ;D

I've been instructed that we're wanting a caravan...... apparently.

Book an appointment and go to the Modcon factory, get them to open up all the options and then you can decide what is best for you.

Initially was going to buy an Ecomate but ended up with a Quattro - similar price range but different layout.

The van has just left...its funny they are moving up from a customline camper which is what I am back to now.
Modcon is only down the road so I will re re read all the threads again until Monday.... Enjoy the van when it comes Dave... I wont be missing the fuel bill from towing it...joys of a petrol v8 and not wanting to tow at 80km/hr no matter the speed limit

Hoorah....camper manufacturers are open today so done a bit of visiting which included 3 visits to Modcon today..lucky they are only down the road and around a few corners and that they have nothing better to do than chat to me...So I was deciding on the new FF1 model or the old ecomate traveller model... there were bits and pieces of both that I liked... pluses and minuses with the FF1 were the finish was a lot better but the next delivery was due late Feb,and you would presume the finish will be better again although I still have the customline and waiting is not my strong point... better use of storage and storage access, higher sides so can load up more crap inside, room for more electrics where the batteries are stored and looks heaps better.... the traveller was cheaper although still more than I can afford... a bit more room in the entrance area and switches were a bit more protected from being kicked...I liked the kitchen more although the FF1 had a better pantry/fridge slide and the weber Q fits in easy where as there will be some juggling with the ecomate... . and it has a boat rack although I dont have a boat but I have some expensive bicycles so the thought was modify the boat rack to carry bikes when I travel to races.... is available now... so we sorted out tow away prices for both and I was going to go back home and see how it effected my cashflow since I am still not working and being unemployed doesnt pay well but didnt want to take the risk of common sense kicking in and see what money was left when I do get a job so put a deposit down on the ecomate... hopefully pick it up by the weekend as we are heading to Byron Bay Friday night...now to sell the soft floor

I have been stalking Modcon for over 5 years now and was putting a deposit down 3 1/2yrs ago when work sent me to Roma and needs changed to the caravan so wasnt a hard sell and I new if I didnt buy quickly common sense would set in and I wouldnt buy...sort of like impulse shopping at the lolly stand at woolworths, just slightly more expensive.
I dropped by there again today to get the vin number for insurance and I am more than happy with it although it could be outside today in the rain getting the canvas wet.... hoping for the bank chq from the caravan sale to clear soon (banked it Thursday) and then transfer the money and pick up Friday morning...off to Byron Bay Friday arvo..... tic tic tic tic
