A mate of mine is a yachtie, he reckons, just start heaving and let ya-self go hard.

He did an ocean race a few years back and reckons you reach a point where you just can't up-chuck anymore. Your body will sort itself out after a certain amount of spewing ya guts out.

He reckons, he spewed non-stop for about 18 hours and has never been sick on a boat ever again since then.

No need to thank me Chunder Gutz, just a nice selfie of ya teeth going overboard will be thanks enough.

reading that reminded me of the time I was out on a charter with some mates. Google ET's seasickness tablets. They are made by a compounding chemist. I used to spew all the time. Worse if I took tablets. I had tried everything. These tablets not only do I not get sick but I can snack and drink (water and soft drink) on the boat. I have fished all of my life and I used to feature heavily in sickness sweeps in fishing comps until I found these. PM me if you want more details.

x 2 for ET's tablets, they are the only thing that work for me too. I take a packet of corn chips fishing with me as I crave saltly foods.
I have found that I can't drink alcohol for 24 hours after taking them, had half a gin and tonic after we got home from fishing one day and felt like I'd drunk the bottle.

My doctor put me onto avil which is a non prescription allergy tablet that also works for motion sickness, works better for me than qwells but same goes with taking the night before.

Kwells works but the dry mouth is a pain. Had a light breakfast before going out. Was starving during the day. Took a bite of my cheese and bacon roll, but couldnt swallow the bloody thing my mouth was that dry. Bring juicy fruits n not dry foods if taking the tablets.

I reckon you gotta try a few to see what works.

Quells work for me but gives me the dry mouth thing to an extent that it takes some of the enjoyment out of the day.

Travel calm doesn't work for me.

Avomine work but make me so drowsy it is almost dangerous. Tried taking them the night before and getting a good night sleep, but that was worse, couldn't wake up in the morning and almost went to sleep towing the boat to the ramp.

I have heard a lot of people rave about the ET ones, but I am yet to try.

if youre like me and fishing on water= beer drnking, then i would not recommend Dramamine tablets, theyre a bad mix with the turps. Quells, but make sure you take them at least 1hr before you head out, by the time you feel sick, its too late

! It is NOT all in the mind. A doctor I spoke with said that if one of your parents suffered from it then you will too. So its more or less inherited! I get it but not always from all forms of travel, mainly in a bumpy sea. Even then I don't hurl, just feel like total crap with a terrible headache and go green

Many times I have gone out and thought over and over "don't get sick, you wont get sick, just enjoy the day and don't worry about it, everything will be fine" only to feel that horrible feeling coming on, and I can take it a bit, but once you are crook, that's it, your stuffed

Pills work but do have the listed side effects (as do ALL drugs)

In the end you have to decide which is the lesser of the evils and what works for you yourself. Pills, wrist bands, acupuncture etc etc. They all work for some and not for others.

We had tabs called sea legs in nz.not sure if you get them here .
I've never needed them but we kept them on board

If you don't want to go to the doctor you can get a limited supply at the pharmacy of true nausea pills. There are two option.

Nausitel or Anagraine. They are available to fight the effects of a migraine but the active ingredients are like Stemitil and Maxalon respectively which can be prescribed by a Doctor. Just say you get migraines and use either one to combat nausea associated with Migraines.

Take 2 45 minutes before you leave and then 1-2 every 4 hours as needed

I have a few in the bag for those really Shitty flights we do out here when storms are really shaking those little Planes around

Flying from Alice to community in a 12 seater which is a 2 hour flight, i (well my darling wife) carried off 8 bags of my insides.
The pilot suggested i don't fly if it is actually rough... i hate little planes

Remember a flight home from Walgett to Sydney via lots of little strips in what looked like a seagull from inside (Fokker Friendship) ... they ran out of sick bags, and it was almost running down the aisles...

I'd have done any favour you wanted for a pack of them off you on that flight.

I forgot how much dry reaching up bits of lungs, testicles, toenails, ribs, intestines and kidneys sucks..

Nothing worse.

Hot, bumpy and confined spaces.

You'll usually do ok if you can stay cool and have a good view to the horizon.

Not always possible unfortunately!

I was listening the the ABC radio last week (yeah I know how boring that makes me) and it had an interview with the Commodore of a sailing club in Brissie that takes out newbies for a weekly afternoon sailing, and the radio host asked about sea sickness.
This guys answer was to have a couple of beers before you go out.
Now, I don't know whether this sailing guy has any credibility, after all, how good do you have to be to be a Commodore in comparison to a sailing club Volvo, or Mercedes or some other more luxury vehicle, and it may have been April 1st or just close to it, but maybe there is some truth to it.
It may also be that after a couple of beers you don't care if you throw up, but I would think the experienced drinkers would require more than a few beers to lessen the impact of your stomach contents reversing direction.
