Take the profit away, the shereholders still want their purse.......

I may want, but I know that over the last couple of weeks, previously scheduled dividends have been cancelled on a few of my shares :'(

Yep, especially places like Qantas pulling in $1 bill + per year PROFIT :o, but now it's suddenly "We can't afford to keep running" ::)

That may be their profit, but what is their running cost?
Cheers

QF has enough cash to run for 12 months. Imagine if you suddenly lost 95% of your income, how many months could you run for?

Didnt you just get $750 from the govt with another $750 to come.  If not it will be in your next pension payday....

How did you arrive at that figure. $750 is $15 a week and then in a couple of months another $750...Even on a part pension you get it.

That may be their profit, but what is their running cost?

Wage and salary earners never get that the boss doesn't pay them the customers do unless they're in the public circus of course. They're a miserable tight ass bunch of bosses too. When the customers don't pay for the financing of the aircraft or a return for those who own them guess what happens to the returns to lenders or the value of aircraft for their owners?  Can't see Boeing or Airbus making planes for a few years or would anyone like to buy a cheap plane at present? Imagine if you own a cruise liner or shares in one at present or ditto the shipbuilders? Not to worry Gummints everywhere will print more IOUs in order to play Father Xmas and save us all from the dreaded virus. Yes Virginia there is a Father Xmas but you might want to look up stagflation to understand what part all the little Elves will play in future.
There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.

I got a better idea.....
All the players should get coked up in their lounge rooms and log on for an E-Series this year... ::)

The only thing the codes will have to work out is how  they can arrange for half the players to get up to their debortuary between rounds.

Perhaps they all get a free copy of the latest Leisure Suit Larry... ;D ;D

Bit of an interesting dilemma that came up yesterday.

Had to go to physio, so while there I went in to newsagent next door to check on the Powerball ticket from the jackpot t'other week.

I got $25, which is great! :cup: ;D 8)

Which has to be paid in cash :o ::)

Is there any reason why, instead of subsidising these big airlines, we buy shares to bale them out. My thinking is that way we at least we get some form of monotary return when they get back on their feet. I do realise there is a massive return to the economy through jobs but, we spent billions on baling out the cars industry for them to bugger off anyway.
