I can't find the link at the moment, but I have read the same kind of thing about a trap as you describe, unless it was you sharing it somewhere else.
There is a video of a Pee Gee cage in someones back yard where a bird went in, out, and then back into the 1st chamber to then climb into the 2nd and join the other 4 birds from there they can't get out.

These traps are supposed to work well. Check your local council as some have them for loan/rent. Same as above. Free feed for a few days.

I might have been using mine the wrong way. But it was a definite failure. It sat horizontally on the ground but did not look exactly like the ones I could see online. Maybe they've improved it.

Here is mine, finished, following all the tree huger recommendations to the letter...

It makes sense to treat the 1st one caught nicely so that it calls to the others to join in.

Didn't get my act together today, shall put it out tonight for the 1st day tomorrow.

That would be the noisy miner. Type of wattle bird, and a bit similar.

So much for that plan

I baited the ground for a few days, got them to fly in, then placed the cage, and had a key hole spying point.
We watched them going into the 1st chamber, grabbing a feed, then straight back out, several times.

So I have given it a few mods, and shall try again after a bit more baiting.

At the inner end of the tunnel you should have several cut of wire ends, try bending them in a little so that the bird can push past them going in and they stick in when the bird try's to leave. We have caught hundreds in a similar trap and even a few in the pigs milk when the lid is left of the 44gal Drum. Barnray

Tried that, but not enough I guess, so have bent them a bit more, and also have copied the set up and "Valve" arrangement used in this type of cage.

Bundaberg Regional Council has announced that a $2 bounty would be paid for every Indian Myna which was trapped and bought into Council alive and in good condition. Council has a number of myna traps available for loan to the public as part of this latest approach, to find out how you can access these traps and get involved in the program contact a Council Land Protection Officer on 1300 883 699

I think the birds would be dead by the time I get them from Sydney to Bundaberg.

Finally...................... MK III Version worked.

I was outsmarted by 3 birds, can you believe it

I progressively made the exit of the funnel smaller, until the 2 x big birds no longer fit. They just sent the small one in and sat on the fence standing guard.

So I changed it, made a new cage with a drop door that is triggered by the feeding tray. The door slides on Elec Conduit.
Got the cheaky Sucker.
Now to get his 2 x bigger friends......

There is still the 2 x chambers, and the funnel on the 1st part is made longer and has a right angle turn at the end, I hopt this stops them to go back out and take the micky out of me.

So much for today's big plans.
The prisoner was to attract the other 2 in, just like they ALL say on the youtube videos.
NOT
The other 2 started to hang about at 1st light, and I though you beauty.
Then the Crows, Butcher Birds and Noisy Myna's moved in and took turns in tormenting the prisoner.
In the time being, the other 2 rats flew off to get some friends, came back with 6 more.
I then end up with 8 of the flying rodents over the road on the Old Fellas roof.
So the Noisy Myna's went over for a bit of sport, greatly out numbered and out gunned, they went it and scattered the rodents. Then resumed the torture of the Prisoner.

Had to bring this to an end.
Got some plastic, the type you would lay beneath a pebble path way, wrapped the prison cell with it and sat behind the cars.
Then a realise that I need a petrol car.
Grrrrrr
Look in both neighbours drive ways, na, no one home.
So out with the lawn mower it was.
Job done, finnaly.
Mess cleaned up, then I see my mate pulling into the drive with his crapy old V6 Magna.
Grrrr, where were ya 20 mins ago!

Can't wait to do it all again.

It's funny. Unlike others up here, we've never had a problem with the mynah birds. Maybe our cat has earned her keep. Those stinking white ibises are a huge pest though. Wish a mynah bird trap would work on them

I don't think I am allowed to dispose of them creatively?
