Guy Rope visibility at night

How do people stop others from tripping over the ropes at night? Over the W/E camping we were in a darkish spot and with the front on the Annex you could not see the ropes well.
I did consider glow sticks but they could become expensive over the long run.
I think a product that is luminescent would be good. Absorb light during the day and then glow in the dark.
What do you do?

we use the cheep thin glow sticks that you can bend and make a loop you can get packs of 25 from party supply shops for under $7-$8, and great for putting on the kids as they come with joiners and make a great wrist band :cheers:

Have not got any but was in BCF the other day and they had battery power'd glow sticks, mite be worth a look.

I use the cheap solar garden light that charge through the day and glow all night, they can be bought for a few dollars a light and just stick them in the ground near each peg.  While they are not greatly bright they are also a deterent to people wandering through as they can be seen easily.

Luminous paint .. Fluorescent actually - Still in the jar -- thanks for reminding me - another job I can do before heading off ... LOL

We had some covers made up at the local canvas shop. they don't glow in the dark but do help in seeing the ropes at night, great for small children and drunks. ;D  :cheers:

I got  the Green and the Pink ....
Just ordered the longer lasting powders in Green and Aqua - Have to mix with clear lacquer -
Will try that when they arrive ...

I use the stumble method lol but I need to get around to puting on some glow in the dark gaffa tape, its 1/2 wide and you buy it in a packet of about 6 I think. Buy it from most Army disposal stores or platatak stores.

We use plastic bags tied to the rope, makes it a lot easier to see, or you could get surveyors tape, it's fluro, 50m roll is only a few $, tear 6" strips off and tie to ropes.

Another vote for the cheap solar garden lights, seem to work well as  i haven't fell A over T due to the guy ropes anyway.  :cheers:

Several "Glow-in-the-dark" solutions are available here..

The Tritium vials are the best, but fragile & expensive. The "Glow rings" are durable but the light output is not as high & is visible for only a few hours after full charge...http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?187502-gt-Glow-in-the-Dark-O-Rings-(aka-quot-Glo-Rings-quot-)-Part-III
The "Glow powder" from here ...http://glowinc.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=3 is excellent...a ratio of 1:2 of powder:clear epoxy gives good results. The downside of epoxy is that its rigid. There are other products available from GlowInc but they can't export them :(
There is "Glow-in-the-dark" paracord available which would be the easiest to use, but I have not tried it. In any case, green is the brightest colour = best-bang-for-$. I would not recommend paracord as a replacement for guy ropes as it is too "stretchy" for me.

We use solar lights as well, $39 for 12 at bunnings. The solar lights double as peg markers and a bit of light for the kids if the have to get up and go to the toot. We are normally in bush style camps and if theres no moon its dark, the solar lights are light a bright moonlight.

We bought a tent from Kathmandu to use on our motorbike that cost 3 arms and 2 legs, it's guy ropes glow when a torch is put on them.

If you have spreader bars on the annex, you don't need guy ropes out the front of the annex, you should only need 2 guy ropes either side off the annex.

My annex is the same basically as Baz using spreader bars, I only use ropes if it gets a bit breezy and even then they pull straight down to beside the post,

Hi Mate, just a thought, when it gets windy on our Complete Campsite we use some hockey straps from the adjusters on the poles to a tent peg straight down next to the pole.

When we used to tent it, we had 2 mini tikki torches filled with citronella, they sat just in front of the pegs and kept the mozzies away. And we had cheap solar lights next to anything trip-over-able (esky or tables). Now that we camper trailer it we havent had to worry about it with only 2 guy ropes.
