So what are the plans for trips, upgrades, new gear & so on for the year to come ???
Our new caravan that we ordered in June will be ready to collect in 10 days, so real excited about that
Nothing until I start to feel human again, just retired. ;D
What ???
A week into retirement & you haven't yet hit the "How did I ever have enough time to go to work every day?" mark ??? ;D
Nope, I'm totally burnt out. :(wake up in a panic thinking you've slept in and should be on the road... lol
I thought you already had it, because you built the new shed for it ???
Here's a few more pearls of wisdom for our intellectual overlords and their hubris :cup:

Ours is 32, not there yet..... ;D
Many years ago we decided to do "the lap". We thought we would go when the 3 kids were all able to drive and capable of caring for themselves. We left them access to funds for food and "emergencies" such as breakdowns etc. After about 3 weeks we came into phone range and had a message to call home. We rang and received the devastating news that the dishwasher wasn't working and the dishes were piling up. After we got up off the floor we asked if they had considered the alternative only to be told "yeah we can use paper plates but what about the pots and pans". We then explained that the alternative we were thinking of was hand washing. Silence !! As it happens someone had flicked across the child lock.
We rang them when we were 24hrs from home - about a week earlier than anticipated. Our neighbours told us they were still mowing lawns at 10pm. It proved to be a life changing experience for them. Co operation, routine, self reliance etc. They only had one party which was early in the piece and decided they wouldn't have any more - too much work and cleaning up !!

Made me smile.. That many modern cars dont come with any form of spare tyre... Not even a Shitty space saver...
WTF?
We did the same years ago.
It's like kicking them out of home, without actually kicking them out... ;D
Made me smile.. That many modern cars dont come with any form of spare tyre... Not even a Shitty space saver...
WTF?
Well why would you need a spare ???
After all, in Europe, Japan & South Korea, you're only ever 5k away from a service place that can help you if you need it, so why bother carrying all that extra weight & bulk! ::)
Apparently your supposed to call NRMA/RACV etc to get tow trucked to a tyre place to change it now.Ahahaha,
But how often do you get a puncture these days ? ...
and it's always bloody Tek screws..... >:(
But how often do you get a puncture these days ? We have a space saver in our Tiguan, 130k never been on the car. Can only recall 2 punctures in the last 10 odd years on my patrol. 1 at tunnel creek & one south of Coober Pedy. After the one at CP I threw out the split rims & fitted Maxxis Razor 811, over 60k no punctures & until we moved last September was living on unsealed roads. Also run TPMSMurphys law.... But I do see several cars on the freeway a week parked up waiting for Mr support truck
Not often in the Patrol, but it happens pretty regularly in the others.Yeah I think my last few punctures i can recall were screws or nails
Probably 1 or 2 a year.....and it's always bloody Tek screws..... >:(
We're heading off in a few weeks, leaving Son 2 (22 y.o.) on his own, although his brother (28) will be down every couple of weekends.
He's done it before for 2-3 weeks, but this time is going to be ~3 months, so may be a shock to the system ::), especially when he realises the cost of buying ready-to-cook meals, rather than DIY! :o
We had the opposite, son aged 21 at the time, had always lived at home and his employer at the time offered him a position in charge of IT in the Paris office for 2 years. After discussing it with us, he grabbed the opportunity and the change when he came home, I would say was somewhat remarkable.
I will admit that we were somewhat worried about it, but it all worked out very well.
Days that end like this. ;D

By the tyre tracks, looks like there's been more than just your group there! It's become very popular over the couple of years. It is a free NPWS camp ground, you can camp right next to rhe River. As long as people leave it clean, it will remain a beautiful place.
Are you on a little bridge / weir, or just a log jammed across the creek?

Just got this from a mate.
Reckon a few here may be able to tick quite a number of these boxes off!
I used to think I was pretty much just a regular person, but I was born white into a two-parent household which now, whether I like it or not, makes me privileged, racist, and responsible for slavery.
I am a fiscal and moral conservative which, by today's standards, makes me a fascist because I plan, budget, and support myself.
I went to Grammar School and have always held a job. But I now find out that I am not here because I earned it, but because I was "advantaged."
I am heterosexual, which according to gay folks makes me homophobic.
I am not a Muslim, which now labels me as an infidel.
I am older than 70, making me a useless dinosaur who doesn't understand Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Snapchat.
I think, reason, and doubt most of what the ‘mainstream’ media tells me, making me a Right-wing conspiracy nut.
I am proud of my heritage and our inclusive culture, making me a xenophobe.
I believe in hard work, fair play, and fair reward according to each individual's merits, which today makes me an anti-socialist
I believe our system guarantees freedom of effort, not freedom of outcome or subsidies, which must make me a borderline sociopath.
I believe in the defense and protection of my nation for and by all citizens, making me a militant.
I am proud of our flag, what it stands for, and the many who died to let it fly, so I stand during our National Anthem - so I must be a radical.
Funny - it all took place over the last decade! If all this nonsense wasn't enough to deal with, now I don't even know which toilet to use... and these days I gotta go more frequently!
;D
Excuse us Muggsy but we need to search you and were just wondering what alphabet soup diaspora you were identifying with today? :police:

There are limited exceptions to when the choice would be overruled including if police believed it was made in bad faith or where it was not practicably feasible to accommodate.

Saw this on another forum where we were discussing lack of driving skills, poor attitudes & so on.
"I saw one road rage driver get done.
I was stopped in the left hand lane at traffic lights, saw a car stop at an amber light and then saw another car come flying over the hill and smash into the stationary car. He reversed and went round the car on the wrong side of the road and through a red light and stopped in my lane on the other side of the lights and blocked the car including me.
A big gorilla got out of the car with a bright red face and waving arms in a threatening manner whilst swearing at the driver for stopping at a an orange light. Just as he got to the front of the car the doors open and 2 huge Tactical Response Police officers got out of their unmarked car. I watched as the blood drained from his face.
The Police arrested him, and also asked for my details so if needed I could be a witness, but I never heard from them."
;D :cup:
Yeah,
I've just got to fill out some forms, drop them into the Grafton Hospital and they'll book the op for my right knee replacement. Left one will need it one day.
It's been a long journey over the last 4 years, loosing weight, exercising.
Happy Days.
I've been referred to as a Snippers Worst Nightmare,

Hi Guys,
A full replacement, the Dr told me that everyone has a different recovery time, and I will still feel pain for some time after. He was very up front about what I was to expect post OP.
He has a great reputation, the first question most people ask is, who is doing the OP?
Dr Aidin Sadeghilar.
Apparently, I'm in good hands.
Thank you for your advice and yeah, the constant pain, that I won't miss.
Oh, the joys of using your body as a backhoe, forklift in the building trade off & on for 40 years.

Hi, so much better than a 1950s International 6 cyl dually 4wd with crew out on the tray. There were a fleet of old Bedfords and Blitz in our area... oh being village protection + bush we battled with an ex air firey thornycroft (similar to photo)as our worst.. I always thought they were supposed to be reasonable enough ??? (At least as a fourbie, not necessarily a fire-truck)Right on GVM when loaded with single shocks instead of twins on each corner...
What's it built on, Jon?Hey Fizzie,
Yesterday arvo,
While watching my Swans get their backsides smacked, we lost power just near the end of the 1st quarter.
Out to the shed, grab the Kings 3.5kva genny, Telly back on, Fridge/freezer running, and a couple of lights.
I've used it a couple of times now, mainly for On-site jobs, Grinder, dropsaws, electric jack hammer, but not for 5 hours straight.
Don't run out of fuel, still half 1/2 tank.
I notice Kings don't sell them anymore, (https://emoji.tapatalk-cdn.com/emoji848.png)
Not happy the Swans lost, but pretty happy the genny works well.

85 SD1 Rover V8
& for a Rover back then, it would have even been real wood! ;D
Yeah, well wood veneer.. loved that car, most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned. Drove it 8 hours straight up to Sydney once and got out as fresh as I got in. In the wife's past Aurion or current Tuscon, 2 hours is the limit for me (my JEEP is nearly as good as the Rover)..
The Rover was a manual, and could it haul ass. Never found a piece of road long enough to max it out, best I saw was well off the clock at 5100rpm in 5th gear (5000 rpm @ 240kph). So approx 260 kph... :police:
Last of the 100% British Rovers before they went to Honda Clones.
