We only have 110km/h on multilane freeways.

That was the only place I thought we had them, & even then, only just N & S of Brisban, so I was surprised to see them further out West.

Not completely correct Brij (unless things have changed).

When we went to Mildura in 2019 the speed limit on the Calder changed to 110km/h just north of Wycheproof (or therabouts)....

More than happy to be corrected.

This is from the Vicroads standards (2021) -

Quote
3. A speed limit of 110 km/h can generally only be applied to the highest standard rural roads. To be eligible, a road shall
satisfy ALL of the following criteria:
a. Perform an interstate or inter-regional transport function AND
b. Be a divided arterial road or freeway / motorway / tollway with a design speed of 120 km/h AND
c. Have full access control AND
d. Have sealed shoulders and appropriate roadside AND
e. Have a low crash risk determined by a formal road safety risk assessment utilising risk assessment tools
such as IRR.

E-mail just in from QPWS:

"Following extensive repairs to damage caused during severe weather in 2022, Bribie Island's Northern Access Track has been re-opened.

Impacted sections of the 20 kilometres of track between the Poverty Creek turn-off and the Fort Bribie Day-Use Area have been raised and rock inverts installed to reduce the chance of closures after future rain events."

That is exactly the same note they leave here. We have alway kept a big tyre pump in my wife’s SUV. The Land Rover has onboard air so not a big problem for us.

I was considering printing a note pointing out that we will need to burn fuel to pump the tyres up again. However, I can’t really be arsed and the likelihood of us being affected where we live is slim. They only seem to be targeting urban areas.

Having said that, we’ve left my wife’s car in an airport car park for a fortnight. So, it could happen.

You have to be Gidding.
Local councils have tried, state government have tried.
Cat lovers are a special breed, they don't give a rats arse what their precious muggy does.
Now the the federal government is going to have a crack at Cat control.

"trialling feral cat shooting programs"

You mean actually make use of what recreational shooters have been offering for years, instead of treating all of them as undiscovered psychopaths ??? ::)

I’m currently in a country with a huge feral cat population. The locals like them because they keep the snakes and spiders away.

There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.

We actually pay people for this stuff  ???

Sounds like a good idea to find out if and how much we actually influenced climate over the years.. A better understanding is always a good thing..

Spotted this photo in an article about Burning Man in the US.

The fairly small number of caravans in comparison to motorhomes (some of which also appear to be towing vans!) surprised me a bit, as I thought vans are popular in the States ???
