They're a premium brand with a premium price, they have their market segment and other diversified business interests, and it sounds like they're doing ok for themselves. Good on them.

Yep, have to agree.  Happy to see an Aussie business doing well, and most importantly, expanding and innovating.  Employing Aussies and paying taxes.

Never understood why people complain about the price of something they never intend buying.  They jump up and down about the price, but will never buy one.  If somebody wants to pay $70K plus for a camper, that is their right.  They have earnt the money, they have made a decision about what will suit them so they have the right to spend their money however they want to.

much the same as people spending big dollars on cars, electronics etc etc etc....there's other stuff that does the same job pretty much at a cheaper price, so why do people buy the more expensive stuff?....because they want it and they can is why

Yeah a member was telling me he couldn't understand the attraction of a $100K Toyo79 when his Chevy Trailblazer does it all better and for half the price

Second hand isnt a silly idea.
We bought a 8 year old one and I could sell it tomorrow for what our purchase price was 2 years ago.

If someone can afford an expensive fourby and off-road van or camper, & then only chooses to take it to say caravan parks in civilisation because that is where they feel comfortable, what does it really matter? I'd prefer they stayed there rather then end up somewhere I want to camp anyhow...lol

do the rounds of the local caravan parks and I am amazed at the number of off road campers that are 'camping' in a caravan park.  All come down to what you can afford and use

Based on my observation at work (caravan park) Caravans have gone the same way as cars; they make big on-road vans, but the resale value and image isn't as good as the off-road van. See the demise of the full size wagon and boom in soft-roaders as a similar comparison.

When you look at Ford not making a Falcon wagon after the BAII (they had the Territory instead) and no Toyota Camry wagon (there's the Kluger instead) you can see the trend that I'm talking about. Even the utes do it - the Holden RA Rodeo high 2 and the Ford Ranger PX High Rider are 2wd utes that have the same ride height as the 4wd ute; I'm not sure you can get a 2wd low height double cab like you used to be able to from either of them.

Now if we take that to 'vans and campers, look at the rise of companies like Lotus Caravans and others; even Jayco have more in their outback style then the on-road by the time you look at the toy hauler and expanda range (I still see quite a few low riding expanda)

I had a family of 5 pull in yesterday with a renovated 1980's van that's probably done a couple of laps of Australia, weighs a fraction of the new vans of the same size and whilst missing some bits and pieces (washing machine and ensuite for example) it'll still get them on the go and out and about... In contrast I also had a couple pull in with a brand new 200 series 'Cruiser and a big off road van...

yeah but regardless of how it looks, who are they hurting by doing it?...I just don't get why people care what others own and where they take it. The upside with people doing stuff like this, means down the track someone else is going to pick up a mint condition secondhand van or camper

yeah mate i got what you meant, I didn't mean you in particular as being one of the people who cares what others have, I was just saying it in general as to how many people comment about what others own. It is a funny old world we live in when you start looking at what people buy, and the reasoning to themselves for doing so.
