It will be interesting to see if Whingecup lodges an appeal. He might not but Roland Dane probably will.

Dane already has...
There has to be some penalty for Whincup in all that. For him to get of scotfree is wrong, but Red Bull always get away with it.

Red Bull's checkbook is appealing the whincup penalty.

Watching it on foxtel .... no adverts during the race ..... always try to watch all ...... and my wife loves the supercars just as much as i do if not more ...  :)
Now although the Foxtel people like to announce ad free. You know that's not the truth. The difference between me and you is, you pay for your ads.

Well....looks like I tuned back in for the last couple of hours just at the right time....all the action happened from then on !!

My opinion: winchup appears to be only thinking of self glory and out doing Brock. No doubt he caused that accident by making a gap that wasn't really there. His record at Bathurst over the last few years is very telling.
McLaughlin was entitled to get back on the track after being pushed off by winchup. Obviously didn't see Tander. Tander was a bit cheeky in taking advantage of the situation, but the accident wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for winchup slowing.

Once again frosty choked by hitting the wall at the start of conrod which damaged something in the rear which resulted in him spearing off down at the chase once again.

I was very disappointed for coulthard as I thought he was going to win....until frosty stuffed it.

Oh well....onwards and upwards for DJR/Penske next year....I hope !

Cheers
Rob

McLaughlin was entitled to get back on the track after being pushed off by winchup.

Actually he wasn't. The rules state that if you're off the track you have to re-enter safely regardless of how you went off. So technically the 2nd accident was McLaughlin's fault.

Yep, spot on. There was a bit of brain fade with all three drivers.

True, and it can still be good to watch, but the attachment of a brand to any of the teams is purely symbolic.

The category is irrelevant, and dying. Having said that, there will be beer consumed in my shed today....again....

Yep agree about the brand. As DJ said today, these are purpose built race cars as oppose to the hotted up street cars he raced.
Don't think the category is irrelevant. Irrelevant to selling  a brand maybe but it's racing and it's relevance is changing direction, as it has in the past before. It's not like ford sierras were ever going to sell cars in aus. But that's was the direction at the time with the WTC.
And like you plenty of beers will always be consumed on a 1000 weekend. Whatever car is racing. If fact the 12hr is almost more enjoyable.

“It is questionable whether Jamie was guilty of any crime when you actually look at the incident with McLaughlin. The stewards have confirmed that the 15 seconds penalty is nothing to do with the aftermath. That wasn’t Jamie’s fault. It was only to do with the incident with McLaughlin.”

Interesting when you look at the footage.

not much happening in the race really, I'm getting bored myself. Just looked at the weather forecast and no rain forecast unfortunately, so not looking good for crash action today.
so it was the usual 140+ laps of follow the leader, then a bit of fluff at the end?

for the crime he committed the penalty is....he either redressed the situation himself (which is what he was trying to do), or if he doesn't do that he'll cop a drive through penalty or even like Rick Kelly (I think it was)had to do when his radio wasn't working, wait an extra 10 seconds at his next pit stop.
So technically Whincup was doing as the rules say, what happened after that was caused by the other 2 drivers....which I'll assume will be the teams arguement in the appeal.

If you watched the whole race....boring or not, it can't have been that bad !! lol

And the rules state , after an incident you either redress or of you can't it's a 10 POINT penalty. So where did the 15 SECOND penalty come from ??
Tander played no part in the incident....if you watch it again, Scotty came back on at a too sharp an angle and drifted into Tander....Scotty even admitted it post race !!

I don't like wingecup, and glad he didn't win..... but that was fk'd what he got.

What, are they not supposed to pass anymore??

If McLachlan came back on, and was let back in front, would there have been any penalty? no.

The accident was caused by an unsafe re-entry and Tander with a rush of blood trying to take advantage.

The penalty, assuming the other car comes back on, is redress. You can't redress if the guy takes himself out between coming back on and the redress.

The only question that needs to be answered is; if Mclachlan had re-entered cleanly, passed Wincup and then had his altercation with Tander would Wincup still get 15 seconds? If the answer is no then Wincup was robbed. He played no active part in the big hit and the stewards have now come out and said that.

Production car racing???

There is a category for that already and it enjoyable to watch too.

Supercars moved on from production car racing a long long time ago.

Did anyone watch the first part of Brock last night? I'm not sure if it's an accurate depiction, but if it is, he seems a bit of a tosser in the early days

No choice with the ads because of the anti syphoning rules with sport on TV, things like Bathurst, are shown on free TV as well as Pay, so the producers only air 1 version, but Foxtel fill the advert slots with their own ads instead of the commercial TV ones.

At least the red button worked, so when the ads came on, I just switched over to the in-car channel for a lap or so, then went back to the normal coverage, that way avoiding having the PIP/Adverts.

A big well done to Whincup I reckon, 3 from 3  :cup:

3 years in a row he's had that race sewn up, 3 years in a row his ego has got the better of him and he's thrown the whole teams effort in the bin, just cause he's a tosser. Well done  :cup:

Best part of the race I thought was Lowndes in the car playing mechanic.  ;D
#1 son called me inside yesterday when his car had issues. I'm a big fan and supporter of Craig, but, he's not a race car mechanic. ;D
WTF was he doing in the car stopping mechanics from getting in there ??? That made my head hurt. Not as much though as when the mechanic did get in there, has team manager (or who ever) sitting in front of a lap top telling him which gear the car is in and to get it into neutral. He struggled, so someone else lends a hand. Between the three of them, they manage to run the transmission through the gear selection in the wrong direction, finally realising then all the way back to neutral ::)

Makes more sense now as to why Craig was in the car  ;D

The end of the race was good. I was surprised. I have the attention span of flea, yet managed to watch and enjoy the last 20 odd laps.

With enough horse power, sheer ignorance and a total lack of respect for your vehicle, you'll get through....
