I put a set of coopers AT's on my last car. The lasted & performed well, but I got caught in Katherine needing to replace a couple (4 punctures in 4 days). If I wanted to buy Coopers tyres in eather Katherine or Darwin, it was going to be $520 per tyre, and I would have to wait 3 days for them to come up from Adelaide.
I looked around the shopping centre carpark in town, and every 4wd there had Bridgestone duelers. They were $250 each, and available straight away from any tyre shop in the area. So I bought the cheap Bridgestones.
My new car came with Coopers.................but when the time comes, I'll be replacing them with something I know I can get anywhere.
My learning was .......... If you are planning any sort of extended or remote travelling, buy what ever tyres are going to be the easiest to source from just about anywhere, or you run the risk of having to pay a premium, and being stuck waiting for you premium tyre to be shipped in.
I once asked the tyre guy at William Creek what the tyre of choice in the area was. He said "the cheapest, cause the stones out here don't care about brand names".
