Certainly didnt mean to upset you.
Also didnt know there was more than one way to read a post.
Spent the first 36 years of my life living in the States so I do know about the death penalty.
Im not Indonesian and know very little about their government so I will take your word on it being corrupt.
But I still stand by statement that its the appeals process that drug it out for 10 years.
Now Im done with this subject.

If you lived in the States then you would be well aware it's been proven that innocent people have been falsely executed. And that in spite of the death penalty people still commit the same crimes. And not all States support the death penalty - a country divided.
With respect to the other posters in this thread, Australia as a society does not believe in the death penalty. It's been abolished for 50 years, and successive governments have all agreed it's not the Australian belief system. I believe there is even a question mark as to the guilt of the last person we executed.
Feel free to argue your beliefs vociferously, as is your right, however the overwhelming majority of Australians do not agree with the principle.
We don't have the death penalty, and we enjoy some of the best living standards in the world, we can safely walk down the street in our first world country, and we are free to argue this type of thing on a free and fair platform.
We have no need for it, and if we can construct a society like ours without it, then surely other countries can. I appreciate the diverse views, and respectfully agree to disagree with some.
