Remember Andrew Barlow and 'the other dude'. The only reason why I remember Andrew Barlow is he lived on the street behind our house where I grew up. The media are having a field day because they can sell subscriptions. I wont even remember these two Bali 9 names in a short amount of time.

Back to Netflix.

Australia got 10 years without having to pay to house 9 drug dealers.
And zero intel to identify the syndicates importing the heroin.

Did anyone notice a spike in the price of heroin at the time they were arrested?  Obviously being supply and demand it would have gone through the roof.

Well there was no spike in price because the amount the Bali 9 had was a drop in the bucket of heroin being brought in.

For comparison;

Heroin and Meth;

SYDNEY -- Australian police have seized 558 kilograms (1,230 pounds) of crystal methamphetamine and heroin with a street value of up to 500 million Australian dollars ($525 million) smuggled into the country in a shipment of terracotta pots.

Australian Federal Police say four Hong Kong nationals and three Australians were arrested in Sydney on Monday. Each faces a potential life sentence if convicted on drug charges.

Police said Tuesday that the 306 kilograms (675 pounds) of crystal meth – or ice – is the largest seizure of the drug in Australia. The 252 kilograms (556 pounds) of heroin is the third-largest haul of its kind.

Cocaine

July 27, 2001: 938 kilograms of cocaine found in a small boat at Dulverton Bay in Western Australia.

February 1, 2000: 502 kilograms of cocaine found in a small boat at Broken Bay in NSW.

August 16, 2000: 317 kilograms of cocaine found in sea cargo in Adelaide in South Australia.

December 1, 1998: 224.6 kilograms of cocaine found in a small boat at Coffs Harbour in NSW.

September 20, 2006: More than 135 kilograms of cocaine in sea cargo in Brisbane in Queensland.

Bali Nine

The bali nine had, wait for it, drum roll please;

8.3KG

They were minnows and as fisherman know you use small fish to catch big fish.

My only thing to add to this is if your going to put someone on death row be 100% certain of thier guilt and the consequences of the decision, make certain there is no corruption involved in said case so it can be carried out quickly and humanly, guilty or not they are still human beings and torturing them and thier families with false hopes for 10 years serves none...least of all justice

1)Never any argument over whether guilty or not.
2)Never any appeal from Indonesia about executing them, that was the 2 GUILTY ones
3)None of the drug mules were executed, only the 2 ringleaders
4)couldnt be arreseted here because they hadnt done anything wrong YET

As already said earlier lets get over it, only their families really care about them, everyone else just has an opinion which we will all forget about when our dog dies/get a flat tyre/go on holiday(bali?) etc etc
There's a big difference between kneeling down

If they were tortured and given false hope for 10 years it is their own, their lawyers and the world of do gooders fault.
They are the ònes that appealed the sentance for 10 years not the Indonesian government.

If you cared to read my post correctly it was a general view on death penalty cases not the most recent one specificly, same thing happens in the states.
But since you brought it up if the Indonesians could do anything without expecting backhanders for a desireable outcome they wouldn't of had so many apeals.

There was no corruption, the accused lawyers dragged it out this long by practicing every avenue defence. As for the torturing of their families, I have no doubt every minute of their lives knowing your son or sibling is going to die by firing squad sooner or later would be hell on earth, as I try to teach my kids to keep in mind that their actions or inactions can affect the rest of the family good or bad and respect
 the laws of cultures when being a guest in their country regardless if they believe in them or not.

The bali 9 knew the penalties of their offence prior to committing it, they chose to run the gauntlet and they and their families paid the the price.
As for their rehabilitation, 99% that are caught, become either religious or rehabilitated when on death row.

It's Indonesia. ..There's always corruption. Look...I'm not opposed to the death penalty in fact we should bring it back if used sparingly but statistics it's not a deterant as proven time and time again.
If you rape and murder someone and discard thier body like trash you should face the death penalty you should be executed but not because it's a deterant to others because it has been proven it dosn't work but because your a sack of Shit society shouldn't have to pay to encarserate.
Execute someone for a couple of kilos of drugs is just pointless and the whole thing was handled poorly from start to finish by all involved.thats why there was so much public reaction to it.

Theres corruption in Australia too and I'd hazard a guess - every single country on earth...

that's your opinion. I wish we had harsh penalties in Australia for crimes... but the gaols are too full, and judges are told to "go light on people"...

again your opinion. What could they have done better? Arrested them in Australia for going on holidays ???

Most are morons who wouldn't know their arse from their nose... that's my opinion....

Again, **** them. They knew the risks, rolled the dice a few times and got away with it... they rolled it again and got what they deserved.

Amazing how everyone had a bad childhood, or finds "GOD" when they are in Shit in jail or goal... ever noticed that... its so the do-gooders have some ammo... you should come and join up at www.cncpunishment.com and read some of the cases...

No thanks for the same reason I don't go to churches, manic blind ideals arnt my cup of tea.
You can pretend it wasn't badly handled all you like but it was, right down to widodo refusing to answer Abbott s calls or return them.
And yes it was pointless as it achieved nothing, look up the statistics of states the execute vs ones that don't ...it's no deterant at all particuly for drugs.
And as you failed to notice bird I support the death penalty just not for the same crimes/reasons

Bring the bodies back, hook them up in a laboratory and clone a few hundred new criminals. Train them better than these last 9, and import sheetloads of drugs back here.
Market the dugs properly and legally, add a huge tax and make a fortune for our Government.
Give the drugs free to all braindead users for unlimited personal use and send all our State and Federal pollies on overseas trips with Malaysian Air and Germanwings.
This way we can self fund massive Government monetary increases, get rid of the drug using losers, and rid ourselves of all our useless greedy politicians.
It makes it a Win/Win situation in most cases.

I personally have no problems with these guys facing the death penalty as like already mentioned they knew the risk. But I do believe 10 years on death row is too long and when the death penalty decision has been given by the court, then there should be a quick turnaround.

I believe Indonesia had no choice to follow through with this sentence as once you let one person off, then it creates a legal precedence for future scum bags. This way it sends a clear message to these drug mulls even small amounts will result in the death penalty.

I also believe the drug lords have influential people on their payrolls, so every now and then they give these mulls small amounts of drugs but also tip off the authorities with the details so arrest can be made. This way it appears the system is working and pats on the back are given, but at the same time the influential people also know to turn a blind eye to the big shipments.

No sympathy from me!

I believe that amounts to about 40,000 hits on the street of death and destruction and all the associated evils that illegal drug taking brings with it.

Thank God even that small amount (relatively speaking) didn't make it here.
