Evakool taking long time to cool on 240v
« on: January 20, 2015, 04:50:14 PM »
Hi
Finally got my new Evakool 75l Glacier fridge. I have set the Freezer to -17 and the Fridge to 4c. It has been plug into 240 volt for about 1.5 hours and the internal temp is only down to 23c (from 29C on arrival).

Is it normal for it to take do long to get down to temp?

thanks
Jason

Helps if you put a couple of empty milk cartons full of water. 75 lt is a lot to cool down all at once. I set up a fridge last Friday. It is a 610 lt (obviously 240v) I didn't have anything in the fridge or freezer. It has temp readout on the door, it was also taking a fair while to cool down.  Be patient.

That doesn't sound right, mine dropped a lot quicker then that 15 mins to get down to zero empty.

have you thrown some water or a wet towel in the fridge and have you tried placing a thermometer in there as well as  your reading may be wrong

It should cool very quickly but should also cycle regularly as it would struggle to hold temp with nothing to maintain temp.
haven't missed a setting?

Cheers

Will do. As no one will be home I need to do it into Toll at Burleigh. I hope they send me a new one not just repair the old.

Just curious, why wouldnt you take it back where you bought it & demand a replacement. ???

Coz you can't do that, :'(
If the item is totally dead, you  have grounds to do that, but the retailer would probably still have to get the ok from Evakool, and if it's an intermittent fault the retailer will probably have to send it to Evakool for testing anyway.
Most warranties are worded in a way that the goods can be either replaced, ( does not have to be new) repaired or the purchase price refunded at the dealer/manufacture discretion.

Given how good the evakool products are i would not have thought you would have to demand a replacement as they would just replace it then list the repaired model on their "seconds for sale" web site. Not saying I have dealt with them but got to give them a chance. If it is the supplier who is an a hole then that is who you inform people to think about when they buy from them

If it was me, I'd want a new replacement....only because a repair may take a while and at the end of the day, you bought a faulty new fridge...not a new fridge that broke down at a later date..

Update.... new fridge still has not arrived . they promised that as soon as the old fridge was on the truck they would post the new one. Called today and was told that they never said that. New one only just posted yesterday.
