First big trip with with the HotTap Outing + Ensuite tent up at Gnaraloo Station. Worked perfectly, even in the stiff afternoon southerly. Didn't have any problems at all with the unit and the pump was very handy to move water around and refill the tank on the Camprite. I have to say the ensuite tent handles very well in the wind with it reaching 25 knots on some afternoons.

I didn't even have the roof on which has guy lines, just the 4 corner pegs (did use a larger peg than what came with tent) and it wobbled around a bit but stood up very well! Very Impressed!

Woo Hoo got our Hottap Outing today, hooked it up for a trial run, all good after I remembered to tighten the pump fittings. The other half wouldn't let me have a trial shower in the yard, something about the school girls next door blah blah blah.  If the weather stays good will put it to use this long weekend.

A couple of weeks ago we were having issues with out Hottap so I rang support and went through the troubleshooting.  We are travelling for a year and need our hot shower :-). So the guys at joolca sent a postage label, we boxed it up and sent it back.  The guys sorted it out (new control board) and sent it straight back to the nearest post office to us. Picked it up yesterday and we are back in the shower again :-). Thanks Joolca for fantastic support, only a few companies you get this level of support from.

I am now in the process of putting together a video review on www.funfitadventure.com. Will let you know when I have finished it.

Used out Hottap and Ensuite tent as Easter, finally!

Ensuite tent was bloody easy to set up, love it! Plenty of room inside, even for my wide load :).

Also the setup of the hot water was similarly easy as. Had a 100 water tank that I got at Aldi a couple of months ago for $40, pumped up some water from the Murray and filled it, then connected everything to it, with a 3-way connector to run hot water to our sink as well.

Worked mostly really well. A couple of times the hot water didn't light - don't know if that was due to a breeze or what, but a simple on-off of the shower head restarted it no worries. And the new shower head is really good, although it has to be turned off rather precisely or it will still drip leak for a fair while.

Overall, love it and it'll get plenty of use :). Next year we will camp closer to the river so we can pump direct and have slightly longer showers hehe

Thank you for the genuine and honest feedback/ review guys. Do you mind if I grab those images and pass them on to my FB guy? holsty had a beauty that I'll be grabbing too :)

Ozsnowman keep us posted on how the unit goes with igniting - if it keeps doing that we will sort it out :) Also, I know exactly what you mean with the shower head. You do have to spin it to just the right point, else you will have that slow drip/ leak. I think the trade off here is having the ease of use - but still a bit to play with :) We are actually already working on another shower head that will have a custom mould for some part of it (not sure exactly what the go is). So, we are slowly sifting through these issues one by one  ;D

But yeah, new style shower heads are super dooper!

For anyone that has some spare time, I would be very grateful if you could jump onto the below link and leave a review. I know we aren't perfect, and I know there are some nibbling issues here and there. So, if you could jump in and share your experience on that site, it would help let others know what to expect. I'm not trying to push for 5/5 with awesome reviews (even though I would love that haha) I know that honesty is the best policy.

Will do - wasn't a huge thing, and like I said, easily rectified. Will probably be packed away now until spring, as the missus doesn't camp in the winter hehe.

Hey Bart
Bought my joolca and ensuite tent at the Cleveland camping show last October. I'm loving the joolca with only minor issues. I found it impossible to ignite on a low temp, having to raise temp then reduce after ignition. It may have been because it was Xmas and the water temp was already 25+C
It hasn't happened since then. I do find the shower head ver difficult to turn on and off.
However love the idea of the permanent ensuite setup, can you pm cost including postage to brisbane 4159
Thanks Lloyd

Hey Bart,

Interested in getting a Joolca HOTTAP, just had a couple of questions:

1. Is there an option for a gas bayonet fitting instead of direct to the bottle?
2. What is the lowest flow pump that the HOTTAP will work with?

Thanks very much!
Kai

Hey Kai - just got to your PM now :) In terms your questions:

1. We don't have an option for that. Best bet would be to grab an off shelf straight gas line (or custom made to length if needed) and use that. I don't actually know much about places that do this so maybe someone else reading here might know?

2. In terms of the lowest flow:

Lowest pressure to work across full flow range is 10PSI. I think the lowest pressure to get the unit going was like 6PSI or something. A lot of 12V pumps should easily meet this as I find most common to be like 40 or 60PSI.

Lowest flow to get the unit fired up is approx. 4LPM. This will only fire the unit up on low flow, but won't work on higher flows. Basically, you can start the unit on the low flow setting, and as you go to increase the flow dial the unit will cut out (before max). So, you'll want a 6LPM pump to work across the full range of flow (min to max).

Hope this info helps :D

You will be able to source a fitted hose to suit, The joolca heater will have a 3/8" SAE fitting, so a hose with a 3/8" sae connection one end and bayonet other is what you need. Like this
https://www.gameco.com.au/product/bayonet-heater-hose-3m-38fbsp/
most gas places or plumbing supplies or caravan accessory places will be able to source.
