You must be bored.. I'd have told him hes full of **** by now.

lol no I'm just wanting to get all the facts and make sure I am either not wasting money or I am not missing out on a bargain!

The manufacturer sounded very genuine to me and I felt he had no reason to make up stories but in some ways it may be in their best interest to not have some dodgy back harder trying to repair one of their campers!

On the other hand the salesman that is selling it doesn't come across very down to earth or genuine and is almost arrogant and rude, but he may be sick of clowns like me questioning his integrity lol

I have since found out the following if anyone is interested................

Has it still got its complete diesel heater?  Yes
Is the battery charger and monitoring system still on it? from what I can see.
Is the hot water unit still in it? not sure wher its located.
Is the water pump and water tanks still in it? Tanks are not sure where pumps are.
Is there any extras still there like the batteries or solar system? no
I can see that it is extensively damaged which I am ok with, has it been rolled over? we dont know for sure whats happened.
Is the chassis and suspension mounting brackets straight? all appear to be fine from what we can see, but it is sold as is. If you are worried come and have a look or dont bid as only the buyer decides on its value not us.

I agree but also it may be a case of giving too much info in past and it has come back to bite him because something hasn't worked or the buyers expectations were not met?

Or it could be me giving people too much credit and being hopeful its not dodgy and I can grab a bargain! Maybe I can buy it for around 5K and sell it to the Chinese for intellectual property? LOL

all he has to do is add a disclaimer..

For someone that buys and sells vans you'd think he'd know where the water pumps and hot water heater are located! Hmm, don't sound quite right to me. Reckon he's hiding more issues. He was probably the one who stripped the parts out!

It appears as though they may have some sort of conscience after all, the listing has been edited....still not full disclosure but obviously wanted to add this vital bit of info so they don't get a come back............

On 19-Sep-14 at 13:53:55 AEST, seller added the following information:
Attention eBayers, since this has been listed on eBay this week we have been contacted byTrack trailers, they have informed us this van when it had been in the accedent that the original suspention was removed for inspection and replaced with series two suspention. They tell us that even thought it bolts up and looks the same as the original suspention its not correct as the geometry is incorrect and that it shouldnt be towed until rectified. They said to upgrade to right suspention they will supply the parts at a cost of $2500 . Sorry for any inconvenience.

I know, I'm not exactly of a high education myself but accedent and suspention! Lol

It's already over 7 grand so it's going to be 10 grand at least just to get a rolling chassis and some fixtures if the buyers genuinely wanting to fix it.
I'm guessing the Chinese or some Aussie imitating company is buying it for the intellectual property ;)

if the chinese wanted to copy one of the vans there would just take pics of it ,it is amazing what they can get from a pic .look at the motor bikes that's how they did that all that time ago

In fairness to the seller he likely bought it at Fowles or similar and as such has no history on it. Spelling might just be done on a "smart" phone.
I'd be wary of, "I don't know if xxxx works."  In reality if it does it adds $$$ if not it adds ballast.
He wants to make $$$
He could test some of the parts and post either the test or at least "it seems to work but I can't guarantee it works fully"

I agree until I found out that the manufacturer had told him exactly what happened to it and its history. And you are correct he does want to make money so if all the other items on it worked or were there he would mention them in some form like he did the diesel heater I would have thought.

But anyway Im sure who ever is bidding on it has their reasons and good luck to them if they can make whats left of it work. Even if it owes them 10k or more from the auction (which it will now) and they spend 20k or more rebuilding back to its former glory, they still have a cheapish topaz I guess. Its not for me because I wouldn't buy a topaz even if I had the money but for someone who can repair it and wanted that particular model they may still be able to make it work??

........

That does seem to be the case Danny.

The track on a lot of these things looks too narrow to me. It might be that, combined with a bit of "I've got the best suspension in the world, so I can go as fast as I like", and over she goes..... :'(
