Could be an interesting project, currently sitting at $1041, with 9 days to go! Will watch it to see how it goes.

Hopefully the link works.

This is quoted from the eBay listing;

"Comes with PPSR certificte showing the van has a cleared title and is not on the written off register. Can be re-registered in any State like any standard un-registered trailer."

Can't see insurance being a problem.

Will be interesting to see what it goes for, reckon it won't be as cheap as many would hope for.

But I thought that's what the register is for, if insurance writes it off then it gets put on the register.
Or does the ins comp have an option as to whether or not they put it on the reg? Do repairable write offs get put on the reg? Interesting.

In the vid, there doesn't appear to be enough damage to write off a $70k trailer (based entirely on the fact that I've never repaired a $70k trailer). Maybe the owner didn't have insurance and is just looking to off load it.

Can someone in Victoria go and have a look at it for me? Id happily repay you with man cuddles.

Id like to know whats still in it and whats been stripped out of it? Im going to bid on it but the amount Im willing to pay will be dependant on the value of the accessories/chassis/suspension etc. Im not convinced I would repair it.

In NSW ALL light vehicles that are written of by the insurer are statutory write offs and cannot be re registered. They can only be used for parts. I assume vic is similar.
Double check the wovr as it can take time for the vin to appear on the register and you could be caught out.
Which parts can be used I do not know. I assume anything that is not damaged. So how do you reuse a drawbar with vin on it to make a home made trailer?  Just hide the vin I guess.

I just spoke to the gent he is suggesting it is going to sell for over 20k so I'm out at that price.

He also could not tell me how complete everything is, as in the electricals, heater hot water etc etc. it has no batteries and he said it has had stuff stripped from it. It has also had a lot of water through it. So id be inspecting it if your going to throw a lot of money at it.

LOL I did think that but when I suggested it would be about a 10k or so seller he said he paid that much for it.......typical sales speak but I have a feeling it will be 'bumped' up to a price they want ;)

if he paid 10k for that hes got 1 hand on each penis. couldn't be that stupid with one.

its been a submarine, *STUFF* is missing, but he doesn't know what, its been upside down, frame is bent, he bought an axle and wheels.

Im thinking they may have paid somewhere close to 10k for it.

That model is worth around 40-50k real money to sell as a second hand unit. Plenty for sale higher but realistically 40k or so is the money if you want to actually sell one.

So for someone to purchase it around 15-20k, throw 10k at it, they are still in front. Not by far and those figures could get blown out so anything over 15k IMHO is a risk. Unless of course you wanted one of these, then it may be a risk worth taking.

Too many unknowns for me to throw too much money at it, but ill be having a crack if its still real at the end of bidding.

I would contact Trak and get their opinion on it before parting with your hard earned.....

I don't think these things are just a couple of panels screwed together.  Bit more engineering involved than that, making repair expensive and complicated.

As Darcy7 said, get an opinion from Trak or better yet pay someone from Trak to come and give an estimate to repair it.

She'll be right, someone will snap it up put it in a container and send it to the great yellow land of  retro engineering make a few changes  .. import thousands as flat packs  and become the biggest all Australian made camper trailer manufacturer , might even  put out a visual production to show how tuff / easy and great the product is  .... Could even get an anonomous person to go on forums and spruke the product up too... Wheres that dot painting guy .
Naaaahhhhhh but that wouldnt ever work, who am I kidding .... Ok I'll stop dreaming of trying to get rich now ..
