I think when pilots have their passengers life in their hands they would prefer not to fly through a storm if it can be avoided.
There's been a bunfight at the GC over the last couple of years as they're putting in an ILS system at GC Airport & the flight path will track over suburbia for most of the length of the Coast, so people are complaining about potential noise
When this all started, I saw a letter in the paper from an airline pilot.
He said that GC already has a landing system (PAP or similar
) but that
only let's them get down to 500' without being able to see the ground
, but ILS will get them down blind to 250'
250', you can't see the ground, & you're still trying to land
This isn't wartime, & you're not on the vital bombing mission that Will-End-the-War-by-Christmas! - you've got a plane-load of tourists going on holidays!
