My oldies sat out Yasi (category 5) bunkered down in their laundry when it hit land just 40km north of their place.
It pealed 2 roofs from houses diagonally across from their place, lucky there was enough trees to stop the debris from hitting their house.
I was only days later that they realized how close they came, 2 bolts holding a post to the bearer on the northern corner of the veranda had snapped, the bearer had been lifting up and smacking back down on the post. We've replaced that whole corner of the veranda, but you never know what else has been done to the structure that you can't see.
We where just saying last night there would be 100s of houses in the area with things loosened up by Yasi.
Anything bigger then a 3 crossing the coast in the Hinchinbrook region would surely find all of those weak spots and the damage could possibly be much, much worse this time.
