had a claim and it was no problems - paid the excess, took the car to the repair joint - hey presto, car fixed!
you had a problem?
Yep they were absolute turds to deal with when our Prado was damaged in the 2007 Sydney hail storm. They tried to insist that the vehicle was taken to a particular repairer who quoted $6k for the repair. I asked him what panels etc would be replaced (the damage was bad) an he indicated none, he would just beat them out and repaint the areas required.
Knowing a thing or two about the trade I took the car to someone who was reputable (and NMRA accredited) and got a quote also.........$17k, new roof, bonnet, guards, door skins and a full re spray. The other fella was only going to paint parts of it.
I then took it to another repairer who quoted close to $20k for the repairs and indicated that all the panels needed replacing. Both repairers indicated that it was impossible to fix for $6k unless old mate was just mixing the bog up on the car and filling the dents.
Allianz insisted that it was to be taken to the $6k panel shop. Anyway short story long, ombudsman, ASIC and a visit from both an Allianz and independent insurance assessor. Result both assessors agreed that the car needed all the panels replaced and that the companies stance had been ludicrous.
This was a 2 month process before any repairs started. I had been with them for years, had everything with them, never had a claim, max no claim bonus etc etc.
Never again for me!
