So you made it there KB?

Justin I'd love to come, as the strvy clan all love it there! But unfortunately I still don't have a new tug to get the CT there!

Enjoy yourself!
Cheers

Pretty much what KB said...lol. we are running an event next year with the 4wd club, and the show grounds in Kalbar is where it'll be held. You can camp here for $13 a night unpowered for 2 adults (kids were free also, though they are considering charging in the future) so an ok spot just to get away for the weekend to get away from the city, but not as nice as where you've gone.

No rain today Olly, we were on the edge of the storm, it went to the South of us. Got a few sprinkles last night, but hardly even worth mentioning as it was just a few drops really

Was warm today Rod but not that bad really, went to Governors Chair lookout and started doing some of the Spicers Gap walk, but started to sweat so turned around and couldn't be bothered doing it.....lol. Was much better when you could drive the whole track years back....lol

Yeah we got some steady rain here yesterday arvo, but not too bad.  It was bloody hot most of the day so we spent it in the creek with a beer. Tough life sometimes

Forgot to mention I went to the Aratula pub for dinner on Friday night (couldn't get into Kalbar pub for dinner) was $23 for a 500g rump.... Nice feed and cooked exactly how I asked for. Will certainly go back there in the future if I'm about the area. Always amazes me how fuel is 5 cents a litre cheaper at Aratula compared to Brisbane also...crazy

They make up for it with the price of the cartons of grog :) forgot beer on the way to Gordon Country last year, pulled into the aratula pub there and got 2 cartons. From memory they were about $70 each for Hahn Super Dry. More the fool me for forgetting the beer

Anyway, back from Sandy Creek Campin!

First time there. It was a nice spot. We camped down by the creek bed. Saturday was HOT. not too much breeze in that gully. The people camping up near the amenities seemed to have a steady breeze all day. Nights cooled off perfectly.

All in all, a great weekend away with the family. We hit the 4x4 tracks for a bit of a play. The kids enjoyed swinging on same rope someone else had kindly left in the tree and then walked up to the "swimin'ole" for a look. It was a bit murky as the water is not flowing all that well at the moment. Would love to go back there when there is a decent flow happening.

There was not a lot of campers there, but i dont think it would take a lot of trailers to make the place look busy. Would be interesting to see that place chock-a-block if the MySwag Nat. Meet was held there.

Anyway, some pics of the weekend

One of the tracks, they were good fun to kill an hour or 2!

Creek is running a bit low on the ol H20

Good Shady Camp spots

Cheers

atleast the grass looks green there jdavies...all out around Kalbar it's brown as at the moment, and most of the smaller creek beds were dry. never been to Sandy creek before myself, will definately go there if the nat. meet is held there though.

Stayed at Yandilla for the weekend...... Water was pretty low there too, although there was enough in the waterhole to get in up to my neck.  Drove home via Sandy Creek just to check it out.  Looks like a nice spot.
