Explanation for some who need it...
When we bought the X-Trail, it was for the clearance, and something that could tow better than the Lancer we had at the time. Nissan sell them as a 4x4, and it has a "lock" button on the dash that I
assummed locked the rear wheels in constant - figured that was just a bonus (since found/worked out the reality, but that's my fault for not researching better at the time
), but still didn't believe it to be a proper 4x4...I've driven too many places that
need 4wd in 4x4's to not fall into that thinking!
The idea behind the sticker is for both those who believe them (X-Trails) to be a proper 4x4 - and I've come across quite a few who do think that
and those with a proper 4x4 who're snobs, but
never take theirs any futher than the dirt road leading into the local picnic area - and I've come across quite a few of them as well
eg: there's 1 bloke here with a prado (with all accessories except for bullbar done after purchase), has the big arsed spotlights, roof basket with attached awning, ariel either side of bullbar, compulsory MT's and lift, the only dirt it's ever seen has been during road works when they've removed the tar, and you only need to drive 2 minutes to be in the bush where I am. Doesn't do any towing except for a 6x4 box trailer that he carries a couple of lawn mowers and sundries in. And yet, he's had the hide to laugh at me...till I pointed out how he needs to remove his hand from his d***
And there's many more like that that I've come across
As for me getting stuck??? Highly unlikely, for the simple reason I driven enough
proper 4x4 in areas that need 4wd to know not to take a NON 4x4 into places it shouldn't go, and if I ever do happen to get bogged, I have a hand winch and patience
And if through some stupidity on my part that I was stuck, and someone with a 4x4 came along, noticed the sticker, and kept going, they'd be doing me a favour, because even worse than being with such a shallow - narrow minded - no sense of humor snob...is having to talk to them...and even worse than that, is being obliged to say 'thank you' to someone like that!
P.S I posted it on this forum because I figured most would get a laugh, no thought of upsetting anyone, knowing that the folks here
do use their 4x4's...after all, the theme here is bush
