How do you reckon your X-trail would go around Beachport/Robe beach driving...

Are the gearbox overheating issues still a problem with beach driving?
Dude in the club wants to come along in an X-Trail diesel but don't want him to screw up his car for the sake of it...

Also is there a front recovery point for X-trails??? He currently doesn't have one..

Thoughts?

I take it it's an auto? if so I'm not sure.  I own a diesel manual T31 and would happily take it anywhere and have on many occasions.  They are a lot more capable than most give them credit for and I've been places without issues when others have been stuck in bigger flasher T branded trucks.  >:D Tyre pressures are critical though.  I run 16psi on the beach and if it's real soft 12psi or even lower.  There is no real "recovery" point as such, but there should be an eye that can be screwed into the bumper.  There should be a square flap in the bumper and the screw in eyelet should be in the boot, possibly the right hand side hatch pocket thingy.  I have never needed mine and think they are purely for winching onto a tow truck etc.  Don't think I'd snatch with it.

I have been stuck, but nothing a shovel wouldn't fix and each time (only three times total, completely separate occasions and locations)  it was due to being off the worn tracks or crossing really dug up soft tracks and not getting into it soon enough.  A set of Maxx tracks would be all that's required.
