Im Terrified of what damage sun can do to our bodies, im only 32 but when I was in my late teens and early twenties I didn't care, was very lazy with sun protection, id happily work out in the yard all weekend on a pair of footy shorts and nothing else....how Stupid!
I now may look like a knob when im out side in the sun because im literally covered head to toe, akubra hat, Buff covering face and neck, long sleeve shirt, board shorts with footy socks pulled up or long trousers, sunglasses (this is even my fishing attire). When swimming its a longsleeved rashie and boardies, sunglasses and soft hat with neck flap & sunscreen.
Im sure ill pay for my errors in sun protection when im older, but I make sure I drill it into my kids and they are sufficiently covered up. Having a tan is not worth the risks!
Ditto.................but mine wasn't my fault. I had a mother telling me "get out in the sun, you're a pasty white kid!"
I would burn, blister and peel. I even hid under the car at the beach one day to avoid going in the sun......
These days I get called "Russell Coight" for the way I dress ( and look - apparently) but I'd rather look like a tosser that's alive than a cool dude who's dead.
My kids don't get an option. It's hat, sunscreen and middle of day limits.
When they're 18 and the government says they're old enough to make decisions for themselves, then they can.

Nothing funny about skin cancer at all, but it amazes me the number of people who still don't get it.
In regards to the whole sunscreen discussion in previous threads......................
Why would you use a lower rated sunscreen? You don't use a thinner seatbelt, or softer hard hat? People are ignorant I think, but what do you do?
Thank
god heavens, budha, Allah politically correct inanimate deity or not as your wish may be, that
myswaggers are all awesome and perfect and know better....

I'm with you though KieranR, cover up beats sunscreen hands down.
I love my fishing shirts and Akubra.
