We headed bush last Monday. On the way to camp SWMBO commented how all the campsites were empty. We get to camp and have the place to ourselves - ah, the serenity!
8pm and a car and bike trailer come into camp. Thinking they'll see us and move on I go about sipping. Next thing they are camped next to us with only a small regeneration area between us. Then they fire up the music and motorbikes
They then get two loads of firewood from up the road in their 6x4 trailer and proceed to have a bonfire until midnight when they go for more wood. I contemplate a ninja crawl with a bag of sugar to 'tune' their motorbikes but think better of it....I only assume they got lost or bogged - as they woke me at 5:30am returning to their camp.
Following evening one of them come over asking for a lighter - his ran out. I didn't mention lighting a smoke from a campfire....don't think he would have got it
Gave him a box of matches and mentioned the noisey bikes. That night the music was a bit quieter and the bikes quietened down considerably.
The next evening, bikes are almost non-existant, music off, ahhh, how's the serenity?
Lad comes back into camp asking if I had jumper leads. I have a cursory glance....nope, at home
I tell him to take a bike into Licola to get leads, but they've run out of fuel.
So I tell him I'll help in the morning. We then enjoy our night around the fire - even played some of our music at a quiet level
The next morning, after a quiet night in the bush (apart from the wind) he wanders back for help. I tow start him and his now sheepish mates so they can head home.... I just smiled to myself thinking about karma
Apologies for the rant/hijack.
