Yeah, the 10mm was our gauge. Kingaroy is our BOM site. I only mentioned it because the weather generally comes from westsouwest, and we almost always miss out on the majority of rainfall from that direction.

After 5 years of what can only be described as vice abuse, my poor little $50 unit finally succumbed to the violence today.

Let’s hope this new one can handle a bit more punishment.... ;D

After running out of batteries in my Joolca hot water system last time we were camping I ordered a step down power converter off ebay. 12v down to 3.3v 10a.
Wired it up today to a cigarette plug and it works perfect.

Getting Tweety  ready for rego on Friday.

I had the mod plate done yesterday for engine, gearbox and brake upgrade.
The diff has been done as well, but he was happy it wouldn't be an issue.

Getting some stuff done now. The gearbox was touching the tunnel on the left side.... Fixed.
Two of the screws for the shifter boot were too long and touching the gearbox....Fixed.
The rear gearbox mount, has a bolt coming down that resembles the look of an intake valve.
It looked like it was missing a rubber off it, allowing the box to move up and down nearly quarter of an inch.
A shockie rubber was a perfect fit. I'll know when i drive if its correct or not.
Fixed a very tiny oil leak from the engine. started painting the door striker plates hammertone grey, as they were yellow.
Same for the boot latch. I turfed the old used cross ply spare and fitted a brand new radial, at least now the spare can go on the car if i get a flat.
All four wheels have been polished and balanced.
Started polishing it so I can get a good colour match on the 3 small primer spots

We're moving forward.

The mighty Corona.....

Some light touch up required, pretty easy fix.
Fairly tidy underneath too.

No evidence of any accident damage.
A really good, 64,000 mile car with zero rust.

If you think that's bright.....

Yeah, I've got some stitching to have redone on the front seat,
but apart from that small bit of stitching, the interior is mint.

These were one of the few cars, that had a chin hanging out.

Not a rare car by a long shot, but not many left either, if that makes sense?

Its only a safety locator for the gearbox incase the rubber mounts fail or the engine gets shunted  forwards / back in a crash ..
Pretty tidy little pig,   the 18R would pep it up a bit from the old 12R too    Kev.

Plates on... Done.

Tappets checked. Done.
Thermostat out and tested. Done.

First road test up the road..... yep, goes like a Teflon coated turd off a chrome plated shovel.

No booster on the brakes, so it ya have to plough the brakes a bit harder.... just like in the old days.

Does it have the forward lifting bonnet?
I remember (learner) driving in a mates car ( around this shape / model)
Iirc, it had a dual throat carby and picked up well when you hit the pedal hard :)
Ahhhhh memories!

I’ve just discovered how much LESS room there is in the tray of my new MR Triton compared to my old MN Triton.

Today’s tasks where to fit the old touring stuff out of my old ute into my new ute.
The power supply into the tray was easy as.

But now I can see why I was struggling to fit one of my surfboards that used to fit perfectly in the old ute.
Looks like my timber floor that holds my fridge slide, removable battery and tool box is going to need some modifications to fit in this tray.
Seriously didn’t expect this much difference....

That would be a kero blow torch, methinks.

Your right Troopy
It's a old Kero blowtorch.  Other one is a old Stanley Aladdin thermos.
Here another couple I made a while ago.

Remanufactured some blinds for the house, after a bit of a mistake by the wife when ordering. She measured 1020mm wide and ordered 1200mm.

First job was to cut the blind material with a Stanley knife and steel straight edge. (Missing photo for this bit)

Cut the aluminium tube to length

Reassemble the blind and hang.
The 30min job of hanging four double blinds turning into around 5 hours work. All done now though, and the wife was beside herself that I could correct the problem, rather than having to order the whole lot again.
I commented that it was a good thing she didn’t measure 1200 and order 1020.
