Yeah, that's was one option I was thinking about.... it's actually speeded up a bit now, and transferring at about 700Kbps, so see how it goes. I'll have to find my SATA to USB drive connector I ripped out of a dead external external drive, used just for such purposes.. But I will also be showing her how to backup her stuff, and make sure she puts things in logical places.. Not 500 odd pics just dumped in her documents folder, and multiple copies of folders within other folders.

Then I'll teach her how to sort out the freezer, and the pantry....... Nah, maybe not LOL... I do that every time she goes away for a couple of days anyway LOL

Hi,
    Have a look at "Beyond Compare" to automate her home folder to archive on another drive.
It can mirror or incrementally add files without deletions.

Yes, when I get her a new computer I'll have to do something like that. Then just need to find something to sort the freezer and pantry into logical order.  ;D

My charcoal bbq temp controller on its maiden voyage.
It's not cooking meat, running it in learning mode for this run.

I used an Inkbird ICT 100RL PID controller. Its a LV model with inbuilt relay.
The thermocouple in the bbq lid connects via a 6.5mm jack.
I used a PWM speed controller on the fan because I dont want it to blow any ash around. I could have used a smaller J box, but it isn't too big. It will sit under the bbq.
I got the idea via a bbq forum page.

This weeks project, a Volvo F12 6x2 Flatbed Beekeepers Truck, crane rotates 360 degrees and lifts the pallets of hives.
Just on 630mm long.
Commissioned job, done from photos.

Reconditioned the front diff on the newest 80, changed out the unis and swapped the 80/105 steering box over and changed any heat affected hoses. Now to start on the rear.

Ahhh.... Good to see I wasn’t the only one playing with a front diff over the weekend. ;D




All set to throw in the new air locker and chromo RCV axles in the front of the Sierra this week.
Going to do a full set of new bearings and seals while it’s all apart.

The axles took ages to get here from the states, but good to see those yanks are as modest as ever... ;)

Knew a bloke who bought a Jeep Rubicon...supposed to have stronger axles than the normal Jeep...until he twisted them ( rear I think ).
Got a set of yank big name brand ones...did the front while he was at it....broke them too.
Spent a lot of money on more yank ones...."unbreakable" bigger name brand.....these ones lasted until he sold the thing a year later. !!

Jeeps love eating axles. ;)
They’re almost as famous for that as they are for catching fire... :P

These specific axles come with a lifetime guarantee for anything up to a 35” tyre, which is huge on a Sierra.

I’m currently only on 30s and don’t plan on going any bigger then 32s or 33s eventually. I know these axles can handle an absolute beating with those sizes on the terrain we drive.

Ya might have to weld up some rocksliders soon or you'll be exiting dukes of hazard style.

Getting ready for our next trip, so I've just replaced all the suspension bushing on the van.
It's done heaps of offroad and I suspected bushes would be flogged out.
Surprisingly they werent too bad.
The Rancho shockies didnt have any sign of leakage. Even the bushes in the shockies werent too bad. New eye bushes and they're good to go again.
The DO35 hitch was a bit tight, and jamming a bit when locking. Stripped it down, and it was just a build up of red dirt. I used some dry silicon spray in it to stop dirt sticking in it.
Jobs done and the vans good to go again.

Looks like a candidate for some sill replacement sliders that I have started to see a few more people doing, cut out the busted (or rusted) sills and weld some RHS there in its place, not as strong as something attached to the chassis, but not as low to get caught up either.

Yeah there’s plenty going down that path at the moment, but over time the body mounts don’t really like it too much.
I’ll be folding up some new sills from something like 1.9mm Zincaneal that can still take a decent knock, then making proper chassis mounted sliders.

I fabbed up some diff armor in the shed today.

Only did mini overhaul (brakes, seals,hoses,oil and grease) on the rear of the 80.
