yeah mate, big round taillights, smaller round indicators on the edges.

Doug has owned for around 20 years now.

He paid $5,000 for it at a car show.

It was only a 332 cuber and slushbox back then.

Excellent day on the grey motor today.
Lifters and pushrods in.
Cleaned up all the rocker gear and reassembled and fitted.
Rocker clearances set cold, not running. (should be done hot and running, but at least I have a baseline)

Marked every lifter and pushrod, did the 6 revolutions by hand trick.
Every lifter and pushrod began to turn as they should. (if they don't turn now, there's a problem)

Manifolds did fit up ok after all...... Just. 

Tomorrow, its dump some oil in the pan and wind up some oil pressure with a speed brace.
As soon as the rockers are wet with oil, the big ol side plate can go on.
Then its the dizzy in and time the ol girl on the engine stand.

After tomorrow, I need the wagon back as soon as for the engine to go in and ready to fire it up

Because we are running in a new cam, I need this thing to fire on the first turn of the starter.
Straight to 2,000 rpm and hold it there for 10 minutes and then shut off with no idling.
Cool down, then repeat for another 10 minutes.
Cool down, then repeat for another 10 minutes.
After a total of 30 minutes, we can let it idle for the first time.

Looks like Friday, I will start on the Tank Fairlane......

We, the wife and I, renovated the French doors out the back. Now a closer match to other timber on the house, and coated in Sikkens rather than the sugar water which was on it before we started. Should be good for 2-3 years before an inspection will determine if any work is required, to re-coat.

Only 13 more sash windows to go. The first sash I did, with an incorrect finish as it turns out, took 10 hours. This only included sanding and finishing. Some of the other window have damaged quad holding the glass in, so they will take a bit longer.
What else would we be doing during isolation, if not this?

What colour Sikkens stain is that?

It’s actually a Cabbots Cedar stain on raw timber, then a coat of Sikkens HLSe (pine), followed by two coats of Sikkens Cetol deck (natural). The cedar stain was to get rid of the ‘too light’ natural timber colour.

Not my idea, I stole it, but I made a citronella candle to sit on the nibbles table in the back yard 

Was watching the Supercars show last week and they did a bit from Mark Larcombs back yard, saw this in the background so I paused the show, took a photo and worked out how to do it. It's made from 25mm gal water pipe fittings. For the head I used a reducing socket for the top, couple of pipe off-cuts for the eyes, and a 15mm nipple for the nose, which is all welded to a T to make the head. The burner is an old garden torch that I had lying around, I just had to open up the hole in the pipe fitting a little with bur grinder so the candle would slide into the socket.

I got a bit carried away and have now acquired the bits to make a larger version out of 2" pipe, that might be tomorrows project

I've made his head Troopy, and have started to build the burner. I put a couple of practice golf balls into the pipe for his eyes. I didn't have a big enough reducing socket for the top of the head, so to hide it I cut the bottom out of a paint can to make a hat brim. Might get it assembled tomorrow.

You could try soaking it in a strong Napisan solution overnight.  That stuff is good for all sorts of things. Oil stains in the driveway, oven racks, stained bench tops, etc.

I find bicarb and boiling water exceptionally good as well

Galvanised and probably cast. Not easy to weld.

Following of from a different post Re castors to fit a old Italian drinks trolley. ( it only had 1 castor when I found it but found 4 old ones in shed that will do until I can source rubber wheeled ball castors)
After cutting the spare castor up with grinder to see how it goes together I found the stem is just a press fit in held only by a round C clip.
No access to a lathe anymore so put stem in chuck of drill and spun it against the linisher belt.
5 minutes had it roughly down to 5mm  and then put stem into pedestal drill chuck and finished off with a file.

Trolley is 1970s Italian drinks trolley  designed by Luigi Massoni for Guzzini.

Finished the big one 

Pictures below of the two side by side with a standard Aussie unit of measure for size comparison, and in their final resting place around the fire pit.

Buggered up a couple of things on the big one, I recon his nose is too long and his legs are a bit short, but I'll live with it. One thing I might change yet is his shoulders. I recon if I swap the female/female bends that form his shoulders with male/female the nipple wont be needed and his shoulders will be about 60mm narrower? I've also got to tinker a bit with the wick to get the flame right.

And you're correct Troopy, gal cast fittings. I did grind the gal off where I was welding, but I had a hard time getting the bead to stick to the cast 

It is what it is now though................. I'll tell everyone I was aiming for the rustic look
