Got a trip coming up..
So did a bit of work on the Troll.
Fitted a new MAF sensor, serviced the onboard air compressor, cleaned the air filter and removed the old spotties and  fitted the new ones.
Then so the Challenger wasn't left out, I fitted a light bar to it too. ;)
Got the Sparky coming later to make them work :)

Started the injector recon on my 1KZ-TE only to be thwarted by a faulty injector tester. This is a job I have been looking forward to because so few people do it themselves, yet is seems quite simple - I'm very curious. New tester ordered from Germany, hopefully it doesn't take too long to arrive - having worked closely with German teams before, I expect it will be in the mail by 9:15 on Monday morning :)

I also cleaned up my 18 month old Brown Davies bashplate. The paint is flaking quite badly, so I took off all the loose material (I got to use my new needle scaler :) )and then gave it a couple of coats of Penetrol. This is the first time that I have used Penetrol - it looks like an oily varnish, but dries quite hard overnight. It will be interesting to see how well it lasts.

I also swapped out my Odyssey starter battery for a new one, however I'm not convinced that the old one is toast (I discovered afterwards that my in-cab voltmeter may be out by 0.2V - need to check/clean all the connections), so I'll pop into a battery place this week to have it load tested.

Pulled the tank off the old DRZ and fitted a new fuel petcock.....couldn't find an aftermarket one or a rebuild kit online so had to buy a new genuine one - cost $70 when all I really needed was a little bit of rubber with a couple of holes in it.

Took the Hydraulic pump off the tractor a few days ago only to discover its scored & not worth saving . The new unit is ordered , so all l have to do is change  the oil to take out any impurities & its as good as new . Fingers Crossed .

Same thing happened to one of ours.

Yeah, I can't believe you can't buy a kit.  I thought I managed to fix it at first by simply flipping the gasket thingy over, the tap seemed to work find for a month or so and then out of the blue started leaking like a sieve.  At least the new petcock has nice clean little filters.

Yeah, seems like a pretty common complaint on the 250 (mines an '07).  There is aftermarket available for the 400 if you have the bigger one.  I can't say I love my DRZ even though it does everything I ask of it, it just feels a bit nose heavy to me compared to the Yammies I''ve owned in the past - I've heard a handlebar transplant makes them feel better but I haven't got around to it yet.

Stripped down the 25 year old 40 litre Engel, sanded back with 120 wet & dry & 2 coated with  a cold gal/anticorrosion formulation. It's almost Engel Grey but more matt finish.
Hopefully get another 25 years out of it but maybe I won't last that long ;D

Then I'll tell you about the mint DRZ that I bought, spent lots of $$$ on and then had to sell after only doing about 500km on it...  :'(

Just buggered a full set of supposedly good quality drill bits putting two 10 mm holes through a 2.5 mm 22 year old piece of angle iron with the bench drill. Started at a 3 mm bit & went up in 0.5 mm sizes. I reckon that the steel we get today is a little less quality than days gone by!

Finally got around to putting some new laminated ply benches in the Jayco today to replace the old ones that had turned into weatbix. Also refitted the fridge that has just been overhauled, reco motor and a cleanup. Even managed to pack it all away so swmbo's car fits back in the garage!
