A young fella from Harvey Bay? fronted court for this a couple of weeks ago. Fined and ordered to pay restitution.

Shane.

All the grubs at Hervey Bay know the local Magistrate. They love him.  Guess what punishment they get, and I use the word punishment very loosely.. >:(  Kevin

We only got a little rain this time, 140 mls.  Mind you at one stage the rain was coming sideways!  At least we did not lose any trees and no fences damaged this time.  Kevin

I heard today that the camping grounds at Inskip have been shut down due to the weather.

I'm of the understanding, they'll open again tomorrow. (thursday)

I like your thinking Kit E Kat.  I'll be taking my 2 English Mastiffs (8yr old @ 82kg and 5 month old @ 35kg) with me camping next month.  They should make anyone who eye's off my gear think twice.

Jeepers - I note they've got some park warnings active for Fraser again due to expected wild weather? Heap of roads closed, some camping grounds shut, etc. What's you're read on it? We're meant to be arriving on the island in just under 2 weeks. Starting to wonder if I've picked a bad time...

It's been getting wetter and wetter up here over the past week. Still not anywhere near as much as we should be getting, but it seems to be picking up at least.

Cheers,
Matto :)

Hey Matto,

there is never a bad time to go to Fraser, but some times, are better than others.

Because i only live down the road from Fraser, i try to pick the best time, but coming from up north, its not as easy. I reckon you'll be fine in two weeks. We've had our share of the rain now i think.

Give it ya best shot.

If ya need any advice on how to get bogged in sand at Inskip, i'm ya man...... i'm great at it.

Kit_e - you should be here at the moment. We never get storms up here, but all afternoon there's been thunder and lightning. Not as good as a SEQ summer storm, but pretty impressive for us. It's amazingly dark outside.

Jeepers - thanks for the update mate. We're all very excited, so I'm sure it'll be fine regardless.

Thanks for the offer re: Inskip, but I have a feeling that we'll be able to manage on our own. Both the car and the camper will be going over pretty heavy, so I'm sure I'll manage to put it on it's belly pretty quickly. I might not do it as gracefully as you though - sounds like you've put in a lot of time practicing. Getting bogged at Inskip was less scary for us than taking the barge from River Heads and then dealing with the inland tracks straight off the bat. Time will tell if that's a wise decision.

In other good news, Bundy are releasing a special edition range of flood-relief rum on the day we're due to come off the island. Only going to be sold at the bondstore. I was going to call in on our way back north anyway, this just seals the deal :). Spend some coin in the local economy, hopefully help the place get back on it's feet. Also, rum.

Cheers,
Matto :)

Cheers mate - appreciate the offer.

I think we're reasonably organised. About the only thing we've not arranged is where to stay at Inskip the night before we go over. If you know of any place you could recommend, that would be great. Low tide is at 10AM, so we're looking to be on the 8AM barge and just run all the way up the eastern beach.

If I think of anything else, I'll yell out :)

Cheers,
Matto :)

Just take your time....stop before the sand.....air down car & trailer.....lock hubs....engage 4wd low range....& onwards to a wonderful holiday (yep & I'm jealous)
