going to try and fire it up tomorrow and see how I go,in the meantime I got myself a new phone :cheers:
one with a micro SD card you can remove when needed? :)

replace the charging dock port assembly. This gives you a new iPhone Charging Port, Dock Connector, Loudspeaker, Antenna Flex, Transmitter Mic.
Part cost depends on how soon you want it fixed. (ebay)
Qld = $21:10 delivered in 3 working days
NSW = $14:90 delivered in 3 working days
Hong Kong & China $5:99 delivered up to 6 weeks
or
you can buy a complete new back assembly that has new phone back, battery, on/off switch, mute switch, volume control, charging dock, microphone, speaker & only in the 3gs models gps for around $50

Did you recover your info & photo's?
Any issues you need help with? Dim screen etc...

it will turn on with out sim, just not useable at that stage.
You will need it to get your info off the phone.
Plug it into your computer with the sim inserted to see if it recognises it.
Have a close look into the screen it may be on but no screen back light. You can barely see the display when this happens. The phone has a small (6R8) coil that usually is the fault.
