The reminder on my phone says 6 days to go.
The way I see it I have only one shift at work before I can go camping.
That and I need to mow the lawns.

Dear Swannie ,

Your site will be prepared as per your wishes but we have a minor problem with the concrete slab for annex area, power, water,  ensuite and pool access ....
Could you a bit more specific please so that the groundstaff can orient the site to the most favourable direction for Sun or shade -- We also presume the masseuse , butler , chauffeur and domestic staff will also require some form of informal lodgings during your stay with us at Hotel Tolmie (where we can do you the way you need to be done !! )

Only 5 sleeps for us but who is counting. US. Spent the day yesterday making sure the camper is all set, battery charged, beer and wine stocked up. Ooops forgot to get food. Oh well, beer has calories.

Just paid the last minute check up visit to the sports ground.  Picked up a trailer full of wood in the ex Excavator 6x4.  Took about 10 minutes to do down Spring Creek road, 5km from the grounds.

Decided to leave the trailer at a mates place instead of at the grounds, in case anyone got there ultra early and burnt it all on me.

Made sure that the new  showers (and older toilets) now have lighting (they do), and that the water was hot (yep).

Checked out the new kids playground equipment, it looks perfect for 2 - 4 year olds.

Checked out the newly painted concrete floor in the Community room, looks good.
Hot water here now connected, and microwave installed.  Power points all working so I can connect up TV and DVD player for screenings of Last of the Outlaws and Ned Kelly (Heath Ledger Version).

Checked out the massive Van currently parked on the oval, a couple of grey nomads about to move on.

Paid a quick visit to the Tolmie Tavern   to check if the    was cold, and if they had backup supplies.  Ronnie and Robyn assure me that things are fine, they are ready for any additional swagger patrons who may turn up over the weekend.  Ronnie also assured me that one of the large heaps of timber/branches in the Police Paddock next door to the grounds should be dry enough to make a large bonfire for us on one of the nights.

Quick visit to Stringbark Ck on the way back to Benalla to check out the vibes.  Our visit there will be in the early morning, when you are there on an overcast evening, with the wind blowing thru the trees, it can be one of the most unsettling places I know of. Today it was beautiful, sunny and welcoming.

Anyway, looking good, role on Thursday.

Just back from a week at Wollondilly River Station then Honeymoon Bay. Can't get too much camping!
We will be leaving Sydney on Thursday morning and arriving Tolmie on Friday after overnighting somewhere along the way.

The Colonial Reinactment Group are locked in for the:

"Gunfight at the "Lemonade"  Shanty"

Their Permit for Black Powder Weapons use (without projectiles!!) is valid from 5:30PM  until 6:30PM Saturday evening.

Ive been told that "Bucket Head" will also make an appearance.  Photos of kids (both big and small) with him will be able to be taken.

A donation to the Reinactment Group (Im proposing $5 per couple, $10 per family) will be sought on the night.

Oh, and:

Oops, I missed it!

Yesterday, the 29th October, marked 132 years since His Honour Judge Redmond Barry passed sentence on Ned. Neds answer to his Honour on his delivererance of the Death Sentence:

"I will go a little further than that, and say I will see YOU where I go".

Which he may have done,  Judge Barry passing  away just 12 days after Neds execution, on 23 November 1880.
