Just got the renewal for the Ultimate and its now gone up to $790 for $50k cover and $1000 for contents. This is with the NRMA and includes 60% NCB and multi policy discounts. Seems a bit steep and almost $100 more than last year with no claims made.
Anyone getting a better deal?

expect all insurance to go thru the roof... latest excuse is recent floods

bloke in the paper the other day in teh sutho leader his insurance went up for his house to ~$3800 from memory.... OVER 366% increase

when he called around, he got same prices from several places.

I always get an internet quote and then call them and take them to task on this because it usually $100 or so cheaper if your a new customer. So much for customer loyalty.

Insurance premiums are going through the roof as the re insurers are trying to collect the billions they have paid out on floods earth quakes and tsunamis globally over the last few years.

I have just insured my Jayco with CIL, much cheaper than NRMA and covers most things NRMA would not cover, as noted in many psots on here..

We pay most of our insurances by the month, and I looked at my home and contents, yes, over $3200 PA... Ouch.. but we'd be screwed without it..

Thanks for the replys guys. I rang CIL and the quote was $80 more than NRMA. I'll have a read of the PDS tonight as they may have extras that tne NRMA policy does not have. Both are for 50k cover with 1k for contents though.

Another vote here for CIL. When we destroyed our camper at the cape trip this year we had no issues with them at all. They rang every couple of days to make sure we were ok for accommodation. The payment was in our account the following day after we sent through our rego papers. Great service

I have just recently done the ring around for CT insurance. I tried NRMA, CIL, CGU and GIO.

We ended up with GIO, they had the best price and were very helpful over the phone

we only needed around $1000 contents but GIO said we can have up to $4000 before the premium changed

The insurance for our KK is $563/annually with CIL.
House insurance with contents is $760 with RACWA.

Thanks for that and GIO came in about $100 cheaper for me too so looks like i'm switching. Only thing is it takes 25 mins to get through to them so hopefully not a bad sign if and when it comes to making a claim

When considering the price of insurance, it is important to compare policy with policy, so for me, CIL wins hands down with their policy alone and even if they are a bit more expensive for us ... at least they know what a camper trailer is!

It's also good to see what the offroad or 4WD angle is like. CIL understand most of Australia is a 4WD-ers paradise and we are going to tow insured CT there.

I'd also be upgrading my Road Side Assistance to include the CT over longer distances if I were heading off on a long trip.

nope no misprint, went from $1,200 to nearly $38,000

yes we changed insurance companies and no we did not get flooded in the last flood, nor did we get flooded in 74 flood, but council flood maps are out dated and i guess they where hoping we would not notice

I can't remember to be honest, I have lots of insurance policy's with my business and houses, it gets complicated

I had my business insurance broker take care of it from now on

But it is not as uncommon as you think, some western qld towns have all had there insurance raised to crazy levels

Who is CIL insurance and are they underwritten by someone else these companies sound ok but what about when you go to make a claim, anybody with favourable experience .Im after insurance at the moment you just get worried moving from known big names as in GIO,NRMA etc

That is interesting, GIO quoted $368 for my CT, as against $289 from CIL.
