Give this mob a look, or google something similar. Now I'm sure someone could help get the trailer to a depot for you. Hopefully there is a depot in taree for it to be dropped at. Thanks for the thought Chaser88, but I have already checked out commercial transport options, and it would cost more than 75% of what the CT cost me to get it over here.  I am just hoping that someone is going to be on the road, and it would allow them a chance to travel with a bit more comfort.

With a GVM of 750kg (pic of rego sticker) you don't legally need electric brakes to tow it. That may help out with who can tow it for you.

Could we work out a relay style of a delivery, a heap of short hops rather than one large drive, would be happy to help if it had to come past Melbourne.

Hi GG
Nice suggestion, I would be part of that, the last part of course.  I am hoping to get it to Alice Springs, then I have to get it only about 900 km's, though through some pretty bad roads.  It would be a slow trip across the Tanami, and through some back roads, so the wife and I would have to test it out... ;D ;D
I actually thought I would get a better response in this issue, although I have never served, my son-in-law is currently serving with the ADF, and I thought with all the ex service people here on MySwag, something could have been arranged.   I would drive all the way to Taree, and may have to , and that will affect my business.   For family reasons I cannot discuss yet (Wyno and Desert Lover know why) I am incapable of going anywhere at the moment.

Without being rude , what sort of response were you after. ??? I don't think many people would be traveling from there to you without a trailer on already. And even if they were a trailer on the back over that distance would be wear and tear beyond fuel costs.

It's a hell of a long way to where you are from where the trailer is and maybe transport arrangments should have been considered before purchase.

I am not having a go at you at all but maybe it's just not feasible, what if the person towing it has car troubles will you cover that ? etc.

Try contacting his owning unit and see if they can help out, When I was serving I saw some very interesting things under cam nets on trucks and in the back of hercs ;D ;D ;D going to some very intersting places.

Even though it's a surprise maybe he would know exactly who to speak to.

Good luck but shes a long bow to draw even for Myswag IMHO.

Giving all due consideration wo what you are saying, you could be quite right and I could be wrong in trying to do this.
I will think about this, and perhaps have the mods lock the thread.
Incidentally, we have seen a lot of people travelling the Tanami without trailers, and when speaking with them at different road side stops, they have simply explained they prefer to simply use a tent.
I have no wish to inconvenience anyone.

In regards to relay system i will be going to Sydney on the 23-24 of next month if that helps. I would love to drive it over myself but don't have enough leave time from work available i do now the boss of a local trucking company i will ask him for a price i know he goes to Melbourne i will ask if he goes anywhere else might be able to get it to Adelaide or somewhere a bit closer to you.

Got to be hard trying to obtain things that we city folk take for granted , thats for sure.

Bloody nice of you, to be trying  this  for your daughter and SIL. :cup: :cup:

But like most things it's always the thought that outlasts the deed.

I am 200% positive that if your daughter and SIL knew what you have tried to do for them , they would be gobsmacked mate. I know I would be.


I thought about your post agian after I Posted and well , I think I might be wrong in my thoughts, If I was still serving it would not matter weather I knew your SIL or his name but the flag he served for would have been enough for me to break bread with him, so If the true sprit of being a digger means anything to me I need to help out.

I can offer free storage for as long as you need at my premises in North Brisabne. (even undercover) if moving it here helps at all. I would even be prepared to take it to Gympie for you. If some one could get it from Gympie onwards.

I mean the closer to you the better. Maybe the idea of a relay run is the go even if you don't have the next leg sorted . So long as people could store it untill a driver became avail.

Don't let me be right in my negative attitude lets try and find a way , even if it's only half way it saves you the whole run.

You are correct, any kind of distance closer would make things heaps easier.  Suffice to say that my wife has had a family bereavement, and we cannot travel anyway at the moment, but it is very hard to explain why, it is a tribal culture matter.
At the moment you could not break bread with my son-in-law, he is somewhere overseas and according to my daughter, he is not allowed to share details, so I do not ask.  She does not even know exactly where he is, and she suffers terribly evenry time someone is hurt, waiting to hear who it is.

Incidentally, we are not looking for "sympathy", the bereavement involves persons who were elderly, and it was not unexpected, it is just under true Aboriginal culture (not the pretend city stuff) everything must be done properly.

Which trains go to Alice Springs.  I only know ofthe Ghan from Adelaide to ALice Springs, but I could be wrong.

Jet if you can get it to North Brisbane I will pick up and can store under cover, the benefits of being a commercial agent, in Noosa and then can drop off in Gympie or Maryborough for the next leg. Hope to help.
