Knowing the guys at OL Brookvale, i am sure if you went back and explained to them that you found the prices on the website they would help you out. Ian has been through a tough time over the last few months and his son Steve has had top stepup to run the shop. May i suggest trying to sort the grievance before s**t canning the company/people you dealt with as you never know they may be the ones you need for help one day. In saying that Ian (OL Brooky Owner) is a CT user and 4wd'er. Not saying that it is ok to charge the wrong price versus what was advertised but fair go and give the supplier regardless who they are the chance to rectify.

Just my 2 cents worth.

that was the first thing we did in fact we contacted OL head office and the matter is being investigated.

My point was that this type of thing should not happen. If it was fit 1 item I could let it slide but as it was for more then one item I won't let it slide

This is not sh it canning but OL head office were not happy prior to us contacting them

My main point on this whole this was our wives shouldn't have the wool pulled over there eyes by fellow ct and 4wders

Who cares what issues the owner has ??? it's not the customers problem >:(

Why has it become the norm these days that you have keep returning to the place of purchase or chase up warranty issues to get the product or service you should have recieved the first time round ???

Good customer service is getting what you paid for straight up, not how well they honour the warranty!

That's my two bobs worth

Best way to get back at them is to shop elsewhere and tell everyone about it..........
Gotta love this site for that.

In another post 'lost' asked about an ebay seller.
Loads of people vouched for them and I reckon they made a few sales out of it.
I know I was one of them.
Good news travels. Not as fast as bad, but if someone gives you good service let them know and tell people.

I run a business purely off word of mouth. No advertising, website or anything but still have plenty of work.
Good customers are invaluable..

Shop elsewhere and when you find someone good, tell everyone.

Cheers
Brian
P.S. I use foursport in Dural for servicing and ARB Artarmon for gear and have had great service from both for over 10 years.
Agree and I am the first say as you should always promote good service

In fact I contacted Mitchell bro today as i have bought tyres off them before and they gave me great service back

Oldblade i hope OL headoffice gets back to you quickly with matter resolved.

Bubba i do agree that the best service should always be given the first time around, but i am sure many of us have had a bad day. Not condoning the service received but as others have said best to go in armed with any research or website pricing you can these days.

Similar problem at another store I used to visit priced a diff breather kit one week, there were  4 on the self including one bag with just the hose's no fittings or filters. Sent the Mrs there a week later (1 hours drive each way) and guess what they sold her at the same price as a full kit mind you. That shop WILL GET Shit BAGED EVERY CHANCE I GET.  4 hours driving for a $75.00 fluff up. No sorry just a come on mate we wouldn't have done that on purpose. No more of my hard earned heading there way.

Let me know how you go with that please.
I got $hit service from our OL a year or so back.
I got no happy results when I approached the owner and discussed it so I emailed head office.
Head office then forwarded my email to my local shop.
I then got a nasty email from the owner of the local shop.
I forwarded that email to head office and their reply basically told me they didnt care.
Never again will go into any OL shop anywhere...

This sort of thread has been done 50,000 times... Shit service from XYZ 4wd store. I dont think any of the major players have been spared over time.

Many 4wd stores usually pay min wage and barely any discounts to staff even..  Like McDonalds - carefactor -0

Suitable to the kid that just got his P's and first hilux with 35s and 5ft lift and no roady. Keen as mustard, but severely lacking in knowledge and experience.

So to the OP, what did they say when you called them?

You say that mate, yet in another thread you accept that a product is not what it is advertised and sold as.If I buy a 20A charger I expect a 20A charger not a 15 or 10. I am certainly not having a go at you ,moreso just highlighting how we have all come to expect less than we should. I know I have to remind myself that it is just not good enough when I get bad service as I find myself expecting it before I even enter the store.

"Why?"

This is because a contract for sale only takes place at the counter - when the exchange of cash (incl. credit) takes place. It does not matter what price was advertised or offered in the shop front, the store has the right to refuse to sell you the item even if you offer more than the advertised price.

This is from old English case law called 'Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain v Boots Cash Chemists' where it was found at what point an actual sale takes place - which is at the till. Before this it is called an 'invitation to treat' and acceptance of the offer is when the exchange at the cash register.

Advertisements are generally regarded as invitations to treat. So, too, with catalogues and price lists.

Sooo... an incorrect advertised price is not binding - this is a wives tale.

In the Coles beer example I think the contract has taken place. Coles has offered for a price and the online purchasers have accepted that price. Its not just a case of incorrect advertising, the transaction has taken place.

I don't think it's right to attempt to profit from anothers mistake - I have no sympathy for Coles at all, what they and Woolworths are doing is abominable - but in general, anyone who can't suck it up and accept that they don't have the right to rip the retailer off due to the retailers mistake is severely lacking in moral fibre.

The earlier example of the woman who took $2500 worth of stuff for a few hundred dollars is a prime example.

Just typical of the misplaced sense of entitlement that many people seem to have these days.

You'd think that would be the case, but (illogically), Coles isn't the one making the offer (they're completing the invitation to treat part). The customer is the one making the offer (to purchase) and the vendor is accepting that offer.

Because the online price is different to the retail price.

If you purchase online then the only way to get it is to pay for the freight, just like the OL store has to.

So in fact the OL store you went to, at least with the winch, is copping the cost of the freight for you plus $5.00

They could have charged her the actual full retail price which includes shipping.

I buy a lot of stuff from ARB for work.  When I ask a price they look in the book, work out what they paid for freight, the markup that the manager expects as a minimum and we pay that.

Its not full retail nor sending them broke.
My alternative to cheap import trailers;
