Come on Bruce, I've been riding bikes since the late sixties and yes we got pulled over a lot more than the average motorist did and you should know why

This is not about what they did to you and no doubt you probably did do a lot wrong when riding on the road, I know I did, this is about a basic right to do your job (and their's is a dangerous one)without the stress of wondering if you do get injured, you are still able to live and provide for your family afterwards, knowbody wants to go into and dangerous situation with the thought of what if, that hesitation could have very bad results.

Put your personal differences aside and help.

Baz.
Cheers Baz.

Hee hee   ;D

Heres a funny story about being innocent, and its true!

Mate and I pulled over a young bloke for something, not speeding or not going through a red light, you know the drill.  Anyway he didn't have his licence and said his name was John Smith or Joe Citizen, like on the fake credit card.  No middle name.

So we tell him thats crap and to tell us his real name.  He then gives us another name.  Bugger this.  Gets a lift to the station and on the way he bursts into tears.

"Whats the matter with you?"

Between sobs;

"But my name really is John Smith.  You can call my mum and ask"

Ring ring........

His name really was John Smith (or Joe Citizen whatever the hell it really was....)

So there you go.  An innocent man.

My wife once stopped a guy called Tim Tam.  And he was chocolate coloured.  Not sure what he looked like inside.  Crunchy I guess  ;D

Done and also sent off emails to local pollies, including mine who is the parliamentary state secretary for NSW Police. I hope something can be done, as I am a current serving member.  I am luck, that little black box has not been opened.  A lump sum of $70k and not being able to work again, just to receive government benefits, just does not fit with me.

My old man was in the Job for 30 years and you have to ask yourself why you would put yourself at risk when the government couldn't give a jatz cracker about you, just the bottom line to their balance sheet. They spend more money on political propaganda than they ever will on this scheme and they dont think twice about it.

Good on you for working for the buggers.

As a victimized motorcyclist of a few decades, I'll just sit back on this one.. I've donated enough money to the cops, even when I done nothing wrong.

I know that I'm taking the bait big time here but anyway,

Firstly not a single cent of infringement money goes to the cops, the government takes it all and puts it straight into their "protected revenue" fund.  IE they can spend it on whatever will get them elected every four years.

Secondly, it's not about giving money to the cops, this is about the government taking away our protection from injury and will result in a lesser service to the community.  I'm sure you would want the cops rushing to help your mother/wife/daughter if she rang, not thinking about the possibility of being injured and as a result taking their time to get to where the trouble is. (A simplistic view I know)

As I said, I know I'm jumping in with both feet but it's an issue I believe is worth fighting for.

And thanks to all those who've gone online and helped out.

No 2961

Where's the petition to remove all the taxpayer funded lurks that the pollies get?
I reckon Barry and his pollie mates should walk a couple of weeks in a cops shoes, and get to appreciate what they have to experience. Let them experience the violence, domestics, abuse, fatal accidents, crime scenes and decomps. Let them go and tell some parents that their child has just been killed and watch them crumble at their weak knees and retire from politics on their overly generous superannuation package. Go after the rich mongrels that are under taxed and leave the hardworking, understaffed, under appreciated Police and for that matter nurses and other public servants alone. If you are serious about cost cutting Barry, try removing all the lurks of previous Premiers for a start! No that would upset the party faithful. GUTLESS
Exits the soap box, sorry for the rant >:(
