Glenyse,
I started a similar thread a few years ago in the forum feedback section when a few things were changing with regard to the personality, direction and size of the forum (this thread has since recently been deleted, but not before it ran its' course). It highlighted a lot of what people were thinking at the time including myself, and as Snow put it, aired a bit of dirty laundry and gave the admin and mods a bit of feedback as well.
If there were more Myswag get togethers organised, where people could attend and put a real personality to a username instead of a perceived cyber image which you get over the net, I think the angst might be reduced. A lot of the time people get the wrong impressions of people only because of a misconceived idea of their ideas brought on by a poor wording in a post.
I always find that I can understand the direction of thought of most peoples posts better if I have spend a bit of time with them at a meet or around a campfire.
It's much easier to disregard the feelings of a person who you have not met, than those of who you have, and post accordingly.
I'm not always very good at selecting the right words to express what I'm thinking, nor am I good at restraining what I'm thinking, with a bit of a "say it as you see it" approach, and I have no doubt this comes across in my posts as a bad trait quite regularly.
I've always enjoyed the company of the Myswag members I have met, have also enjoyed organising a meet or two, and most of all love contributing to the information, both technical and travel wise on the forum threads, and hope to continue doing so well into the future.
