HYUNDAI GETZ 1.4 ltr THE DEAL IS DONE
« on: March 04, 2011, 09:12:21 PM »
Hi all ,

I am seeking any feedback from people in relation to these little cars.

I am thinking of putting a deposit on one.

Before the all the comments about which other cars I should buy instead, which feel free to post it must
cost LESS than $11,000
be brand new with warranty
and use less than 7l/100.

Thanks all

Thats gotta be cheap motoring.
We have friends with one, they love it just for the mrs to run around in.
You could drive a bloody long way on $1250 in one of these things.
Go for it.

My thoughts to glen, with the few little issues with the crusier I was going to trade it in but could not find a vehical I was happy with so I have decided to park the crusier up at the shed and she will now become my weekend car , this will make her last alot longer and the little getz will do me for running around in and at that price it is way way cheaper than a new 4x4.

So it was a bit of tactical desicion based upon finances I know 3 cars seems excesive but in this case the fuel saving from the crusier pays for the getz in outright 21 months.

I'm off to the dealer now 1.5 hr drive so I'll post up the final deal in case are looking.

Sounds like a top deal mate, i could think of a few better options if your wanted to spend a few grand more but around that price its the go.
As said before they are a little rattly and tinny but you get what you pay for.
Anything goes wrong your covered by warranty.

We've had ours for 4.5yrs since new.  My only whinge in that time is that the seatbelt doesn't always retract back but I just hand feed it and it's ok.

We drove it from Perth to Hervey Bay and averaged 5.3ltrs/100k.  Fuel cost was just over $300 for the whole trip whereas the old Paj we had was just under $1300 for the trip.

The dog liked it too ... it was his kennel for the time we were travelling ... so I guess it's got his vote ...  8)

Thinking of upgrading to the 1.6ltr version to tow the van ... might be a bit sliggish on hills but other than that ... ???  ;D

Scol.

Well the deal is done as follows.

2010 build MY11 1.4 ltr getz   $11990 + $375 met paint last minute call = $12365.

INC
fuel cards with BP to the value $1250.00

So true out of my pocket value $11,115.00

Stopped at 2 other dealers on way down and best was $12990 then called me a liar when I said what I neg at WESTPOINT AUTOS INDROOPILLY.

The 2nd fuel card was a choice of $250 or 2 nights accom on gold coast.

Call Kerryn at Westpoint autos 0432 341 271.

Tell her Theo Demitriou sent you and she said she would be able to do 2-3 more of these deals then the cards are out of the deal. and really they are the massive saving .

Had a Terracan before my latest 4wd and currently have a Hyundai Elantra ( 2007 ) with 20,000 on it ( just bought it )..

Can't speak highly enough of the quality ( yes quality ) of these cars, plus a 5 yr warranty.....how could you go wrong ??

In USA they offer 10 yr warranty....thats how confident they are in their product..

I've got a couple of 1.4L Hyundai Getz's for my business. I've got them because they're cheap, reliable and use no fuel. I drive one almost daily. I get them for about $11-12k with a 130k, 5 year warranty.  I hand them to staff (17 years+) and say look after it, and of course the staff generally don't. I have both manual and autos and i've had to have 2 manual gearboxes replaced but i'd say that was due to staff thrashing them. The hyundai 5 year warranty came to the rescue both times. Only other issues were coke spilt into the radio, gearknob breaking off, and the headlights seem to move themselves facing upwards over time. The warranty always covers these. The autos are really sluggish but the manuals aren't bad. My current 1.4 manual is about on par with my 4 litre jeep wrangler in a straight line.

They average about 6-7L/100klm but my manual one does mostly hwy klm and i get 700klm from the 40L tank so that's about 5.6L/100klm. I put brand new $70 bob jane all rounders on them when the factory ones are shot and they last ages and have the puncture warranty. $280 for a full set of 4 brand new name brand tyres is all i need. Servicing is done every 15k and that's about $130-$250 depending on the service.

The crash protection is 4 or 5 stars and up there but because of the cheap purchase price the insurance companies usually just write them off. It's cheap to buy, cheap to run and cheap to replace in the insurance companies mind.

cheers

Thanks to everyone for thier replies,

It really was a case of thinking outside the square for us.

Lara has always done about 150ks per week and the cruiser has been fine for that ,but with the little tackka now at C & K , Lara does alot more driving and the cruiser at 20ltrs per 100. was killing us .

As well as the age starting to show on the cruiser ,So we looked far and wide and spent hours and hours looking at cars only to come to the conclusion that a nice big 4wd with power is not cheap to run no matter what way you try to do it. And the only way is to buy a smaller 4wd (not for me).

But then this idea was put to me to crunch the numbers on keeping the crusier and getting a small run around. And with what we paid it is perfect.Paid off outright in 2.5 years on fuel savings alone ,let alone tyres and servicing on the cruiser all but down to nothing as it will be a TRUE sunday driver now.

so I am very happy with the decision as well as thye fact that our eldest is 14 at the end of the year he will need a car in 3 years so it's about right time wise. (And he can start washing it from now so he knows how to do it).LOL

so I drove it home today and loved it it revs hard at 100k/ph but thats to be expected. The blutooth is great and I called Lara 3 times just to try it out.

Insurance was $425.00 for rating 1 driver so it was cheaper than I thought . And I,ve done 105kms and the fuel needle has not moved so I have already saved $19.60 over my crusier and $7.00 over my Commodore.

Its the first time I have looked at fuel prices and not cried ...
