-
45 days to until.....
The Rainbow Ratbags have there get together...yeeha
Big thanks to The Magnificent Listo. It looks as if he has saved the day with a swagmail pick up for us.
We've got some great prizes ready for Rainbow and thanks to all who have donated, but we could still do with a few more. I know none of us have money falling our ar...um, lets say ears, but if you can see your way clear for a prize donation, we'll love ya longtime like a country cousin.
-
44 days to go
Now, due to a swagger pulling out(It was all his wife's fault. ;D ) we have a powered camp site up for grabs. Give Broncos11 a PM and sorry ya not coming mate.
-
Would be a good spot for a new member to grab, Maybe help gentle in / convince a partner thats not so sure on getting away by introducing them to people that have been there done that and are now seasoned campers ...
Only thing missing from this great pic is you and your new mates and a thousand memories of a great trip ..
-
43 Days until we all go fully sic bro @ Rainbow
Now don't forget people, pack some areogard hmmm, hairagard, bugger, errorgard,oh that friggin flyspray crap.
Remember, we do, on the odd occasion, get a little mossie, sandfly or midge.
Most will be under the size of a dinner plate, so maybe pack the industrial strength tropical stuff..... ok.

So this raffle you have organised...any chance those of us not able to make the meet up can get in on the prize winning action at all?. I think the question may have been raised a while back, but unsure if a answer was given?
-
Can't see anything on their website, but does anyone know if the barge is still half price for same day return on Sundays?
-

42 days to go boys and girls
Yep, in 6 weeks it will all be happening at Rainbow Waters, although, by the Friday, there'll be lots of early birds.
We can sit around and hear RV Green talk about his Fraser trip in the lead up.
RV Green, by the way, has supplied some really good prizes too. Ta mate. :cup:

With 39 days to go, i'm gettin kinda excited
So excited that you just can't hide it?
I wonder if you lose control will anyone like it?
-
Can't see anything on their website, but does anyone know if the barge is still half price for same day return on Sundays?
Yep I am pretty sure it is.
-
WE did a sunday return single day a few years ago and it was $80.00, but it have come down perhaps.
-
Yep I am pretty sure it is.
I thought so too, but couldn't be 100% sure. It might interest some for a day trip.
-
days left is 38, so grab ya stuff and don't be late
-
37 days left before we all get drunk around the fire.
We have some really nice stuff to be won too....
I'll post a list soon.

For those interested in fishing while at the meet, there's some reasonable beach fishing to be had in the area. :D

-
now only 36 days to go.....
I know lots of you are keen to come along......just do it.
Now, in case you haven't noticed, GreenRV (Adam) is organising a wicked deep sea fishing trip. We have some great fish out there who are more than happy to impale themselves on a hook.
The fish are so keen, you don't even need a hook half the time. They just tug on the line and you can scoop 'em up with a net.
As long as someone on the boat is called Annette, otherwise, use the gaff, which is a hook, not a mistake.
-
5 Weeks today (35 Days) till what will be the official start for the 2015 Nat Meet.
Well, the official start for most anyway.
I tell ya what, the last year has come around really fast, but that's a good thing.
It only seems like yesterday,
that Nomad and I walked around the site, gave each other a kind of half smile combined with a half stupid look on our faces and went....
Yeah, what the f*ck, let's give it a lash.
Now, neither of us has much of a clue on what we're doing. Remember, he sells real estate and I mow lawns, so the brains trust isn't big here.
Brett and Jillsy know what's what and they reckon we're on the money so far.
Rusty and Troy from Bundy..... Geez-Us H Christ... these two are certifiable. ;D
But, ya know what, we're giving it a go and I reckon, most folks are gunna have a pretty good time.
So, will I see you, at Rainbow Waters for the 2015 National Meet? 8)

Mate, between living at Tin Can, having Rainbow, D. Island, Fraser and the Great Sandy Strait as ya back yard.......
I don't think living can get much better.
The only thing that worries me, is a lot of the attendees in 4 weeks won't wanna leave.
Hey Edz, ya know there are ensuited cabins on site for the Nat Meet, seeing as ya camper ain't finished yet.
Why not ring and see if one's still available?
-
24 days left to go.
Keep in mind, lots of swaggers will have been there for a few days though.
Rusty's getting there the Sunday before, we'll roll in on the Monday before and lots of others.
Should be some serious liver damage and dead brain cells by the Friday Official Welcome Sausage Sizzle thingy.
-
Oh Boy, I thought we were gunna be in heaps big trouble with the Nat Meet today.... serious, I nearly crapped myself.
But I think i've saved the day and we all dodged a bullet.
About 11am, brrrring, brrrring, brrring..
Me: Hello.
Oh yes, i'm Justin Beiber's event manager.
Me: Yeah, so?
Well, we heard you have this fantastic get together coming up in few weeks.
Me: Yeah, so?
Well, Mr Beiber would like to perform at your get together.
Me: Oh hell, I mean, oh... would he....oh, we could never afford someone so famous i'm sorry.
Oh, Mr Beiber would like to perform free of charge.
GEEZ, I had to think fast, I had to get rid of him......
So I spurted out, "ah, its ok, we've One Direction playing.... sorry."
Now we've all gotta pray that One Direction don't hear about the Nat Meet in Rainbow Beach. ;D

Hey Jeepers, I am thinking about grabbing a kayak to bring up, having not used one before I was wondering how the tidal flow is around the area. I would hate to get washed out to sea.
-
You'll be fine with the Kayak. As well as using in the straights it would be good to take out to the point for a paddle if there is no or little surf, which I am kind of expecting.

The ol Jeepers trailer will come out of hibernation this week-end to get ready. WOOHOO.

-
I can't believe how fast the days are counting down leading up to this. :D
Is it directly proportional to the list of things I need to get done before we leave ??? Is anyone ready to go at a moments notice and the days are counting down slow for them?
-
Jeepers, I believe we'll need a Vehicle Access Permit to drive on the beach, is that correct? Can we pick that up in Rainbow or do we need to get it beforehand?
-

Just food for thought.

-
Well, well, well, 13 days left.....
But not for some folks, Rusty will be arriving in only 7 days, getting in next Saturday... ;D
Bruce and Annie going in the next day. along with the Jeepers.
Now, for those with kids, don't forget, the Tin Can Bay dolphins stuff their cute little faces every morning.
You can either drive over, or take the dolphin ferry and see a bit of the bay itself.
-
Oh boy, only 12 days left to run now......
Hey Steffo, I've got the lowdown on a couple of good fishing spots now.
Winter whiting are still on the chew and squid is pretty easy to catch too.
Just be careful you don't get inked, that'll come later around the camp fire when we all get inked.

OK, I've had a go at this for a bit fun. A bit rank really and I couldn't use everyone's names, but I think it will cover what we're gunna get up to perhaps.
Hum along to C’mon Aussie C’mon, C’mon….
C’mon on Aussie C’mon.
Now, It’s been a long time comin'
It’s close now, we really are a runnin'
To show you folks it wasn't, just a dream
From, Nomad, Jeepers and the rest of the Nat Meet team.
Our forum is better than all the rest you know
And we've proved we’re the best, to get to know
The greatest forum, to ever park a camper trailer on the green.
From next Saturday, we'll be floodin' through the gates
To relax, and share beers with lots of mates.
A beer, no matter what the season
A beer, we’ll always have a reason
To shout a beer with other swaggers, they're our mates
Brett and Jillsy will turn up in a new van.
Rusty arranged it, he really is the man.
Mark GU, has bought all three kids.
Steffo’s, out fishin for squid.
And Barnsey is just, chilling by a fan.
Come on Swaggers, come on, come on
Come on Swaggers, come on.
Big Jules is cooking snags just like a machine.
Mr. Bitchi, is helping, while looking mean.
Robbo's guitar is really getting plucked.
Renno’s tripped over a tent rope, and all he said was f^*#
And Isuzumu is as drunk as he’s ever been.
Come on Swaggers, come on, come on
Come on Swaggers, come on
Every day, we’re gunna have some fun.
Beach driving in the gorgeous Queensland sun.
Kingbilly’s bogged his car deep in the sand,
Everyone’s laughin, no-one even offered a hand.
Just standing, watching, and getting a better tan.
Come on Swaggers, come on, come on
Come on Swaggers, come on
The kids now, have all gone fishing.
To win the prize, no-one should be missing.
Fysh will do the judging,
Hairs will just be bludging,
And Green RV will skit about his fishin trip.
Come on Swaggers, come on, come on
Come on Swaggers, come on
At the end of it, we'll all head home,
Some, may chose to further roam.
Now, its hard to get this crap to rhyme
But I don't mind, as long as you had a good time.
And enjoyed yourself at the Nation Meet.
Come on Swaggers, come on, come on
Come on Swaggers, come on, come on
Come on Swaggers, come on, come on
Come on Swaggers, come on
I think I might go find a lawn to mow now..... ;D

Your poor missus Jeepers........

Will you be doing a campfire performance of that ditty Jeepers?
-
um, that would be a NO.....
Good news this afternoon, Listo has done the pick up from Mandrakes, so now its up to me to sort out a few things this end.
Listo hasn't had the best news this week either, so I tips me hat to him.

11 Days to go.....
The countdown ain't far from single digits.
It must be getting close to camping time now, as I've changed the oil and filter on the jeep, popped the roof racks on and the camping fridge in on and cold.

Your poor missus Jeepers........
Now, now, be nice.....
Even Mrs Jeepers is getting her self ready for the Nat Meet.
She's going to the gym every morning, as she ballooned out to 51 kilos.
On the week-end, we used some 100MPH race tape to wax her back and chest.
(Nearly lost a nip too, it was still on the tape luckily)
The ol bench grinder got a workout doing her fingernails and bugger me, the silly bitch buggered my good angle grinder when she cut loose on the toenails.
I told her, just do one foot and do the other later, but oh no, she had to trim all 11 toenails in one hit. >:(
Now I got a burnt smell coming out of the ol black an decker.
Hey, bloody women, can't live without 'em, can't live with 'em.......... what's a man to do?
-
Jeepers that's the funniest thing I've read this morning :cup:
-
Your poor missus Jeepers........
l have had the same thought & Jeepers :cup:

Now, for those with kids, don't forget, the Tin Can Bay dolphins stuff their cute little faces every morning.
You can either drive over, or take the dolphin ferry and see a bit of the bay itself. [/size]
Carlo has its own resident dolphins that turn up for a feed don't they?
-
Carlo has its own resident dolphins that turn up for a feed don't they?
I think its the same ones Shane. No official feeding at Carlo, hence why we're all supposed to go to Tin Can.
They do go into Carlo from time to time though.
A while back, there was a huge shouting match at the Tin Can boat ramp.
Some old guy was feeding the dolphins from his tinnie and the "approved"dolphin feeders were tellin him to pi$$ of etc.
The old guy let loose big time, called 'em a bunch of fornicating woman's anatomy's.

Hey Steffo, I've got the lowdown on a couple of good fishing spots now.
Winter whiting are still on the chew and squid is pretty easy to catch too.
Just be careful you don't get inked, that'll come later around the camp fire when we all get inked.
Goodo mate. The squid jigs always in the megayacht!
We're up on the 1st as far as I know but I can't make executive decisions!

Need it picked up from Brisbane? We arrive at Rainbow on Sunday.
I'm not 100% sure of when Listo will get the goodies to Brisbane yet. If I can get you to grab it, i'll yell out.
Worst case, i'll do a lightning run down in the XF van. ;D
Shane, while I got your attention, are you interested in a 3 amber light Xmas tree for you workshop.
If you are, i'll arrange for you to see it when you're up.
It was offered to me free of charge, but I don't have the room.
It comes with a power box and stuff. Needs a bit of a once over, but would make a great novelty thing for parties etc.
OK, the TV thing, Rusty hs that all covered and I believe he invested in a dish etc to make sure.
I've got a cereal bowl wrapped in foil if his doesn't work.
Next, I may need two volunteer's to help load our free firewood on the Thursday (1st) afternoon.
Rob from The Tree Amigo's has hurt his shoulder ansd seeing as he is giving us free wood and delivery, I told him we'd help.
I may need to do the Listo Brisbane run that day. ;D

Adam, i'll be there from Sunday, well, either Mrs Jeepers or myself. You'll know my Camper as soon as you see it and the plan is, one of us will be around to help with stuff. I may need to nick off and jam about 10 mows through yet... bloody rain, but that would only be for two days.
So we'll arrange a bit of wood early for ya and i'll be able to drop it off in the trailer.
You won't need to bring firewood...... ;D Trust me, i'm a mower man.
LIsto isn't going to get to Bris until maybe the 30th or the 1st.
He had some family stuff to deal with and even those dates are iffy until he and I speak a bit closer to the meet.

The whales are around lately if ya up for a kayak adventure.
"Kayaking tour off Double Island Point spots 16 whales"
Deanna Beck from Epic Ocean Adventures said the whales were a common sight on the company's tours between July and November, but Tuesday was special because they had not seen that many on one tour before.
She also said the tour company had a 90% strike rate when it came to spotting pods of bottle-nosed dolphins, and frequently came in contact with sea turtles.
Humpback whales migrate through the waters off Rainbow Beach on their way to and from Antarctica.
The whales spend the summer in the cooler waters around the pole feeding, but make the journey up the east coast of Australia, and past the South Island of New Zealand to calve in warm tropical waters in winter.
Unlike many migrating whales, humpbacks are most commonly spotted by whale watchers because they prefer to follow the coastline, fairly close to the shore.
The whale migration occurs every year between June and November and has helped to spawn a new branch of eco-tourism, with many charter boat companies now specialising in whale watching tours.
Humpbacks are found in both hemispheres, but those in the Northern Hemisphere spend their winters in the Artic Circle so migrate at different times of the year. Therefore there is no interbreeding between northern and southern humpbacks.
There are 18-20,000 humpback whales migrating to and from Antarctica each year. The species was almost hunted to extinction, with the numbers slumping to about 5000 worldwide before a moratorium was introduced in 1966.
Fast Facts
*The humpback whale takes its name from the habit of breaking the water surface with a large area of its back when diving.
* About 20,000 humpback whales will migrate this season between Antarctica and the Great Barrier Reef.
*Humpbacks were the third most endangered species of all the big whales up until 1998, but now their numbers are increasing 13% each year.
*They are the fifth largest animal on this planet, growing up to 15m in length with a weight of up to 45,000kg (99,000lbs) - equivalent to 11 elephants or 600 people each.
*Humpbacks are the most acrobatic of all of the great whales.
*The species displays a wide variety of leaping, rolling and breaching movements which provide fascinating viewing for whale watchers.
*The humpback whale is also well known for its complex underwater vocalisations or whale songs particularly during breeding.
* Adult whales have been seen to breach 20-30 times within five minutes, displaying awesome grace and power.
*Very much like a Jeep, awesome grace and power.... ;D Its a jeep thing.... :cup: :4x4:

if everything runs to plan 24hrs and i will be standing(drinking) at my camp for the week
-
Another handy hint for the weekend.....
For those who are silly enough, to drive on the beach WITHOUT OWNING A DECENT 12v AIR COMPRESSOR, there's free air at the car wash in Karoonda st. You'll drive straight passed it from the beach access back to Carlo Pt. it's on the foot path opposite Wolf Rock Dive centre in the side street, (can't think of the name of the street)
A quality 12v air compressor and pressure gauge is probably the most important piece of recovery equipment for beach driving. Doing so without these items is irresponsible and stupid.
Shane.
(I'm 'told' it's there. I wouldn't know really, as I use my fancy ARBTJMDrAIR branded awesome compressor. You may see a vehicle there that looks like mine, but it's not me, honest ;D )

Will it fit my Tarago? I only like to use genuine Toyota air where possible, but car wash air should be ok in the short term until I can get it replaced at the next service.
Looking forward to seeing how the Tarago goes on the beach... :)

Green Rv is in a motorhome.
Bruce and Annie are in with their own take on a block of flats/caravan.
I haven't spotted Bob Mac Jnr yet, but we've headed back home for the night.
Mrs Jeepers has a 7:30 appt. in Tin Can and i'm mowing tomorrow, then heading over with some firewood.
We've setup right next to Rusty overlooking the water.... pretty nice.
A FEW THINGS THAT ARE HERE FOR YOU:
We've got a free concert on Saturday night. Ray Thompson singing and guitar from the 60's. 70's and 80's hits for all the family.
We've got a coffee van on site.
We've got a Fish and Chips van on site, also doing burgers, pizzas etc.
What else, oh yeah, we've got fire twirling classes.

We had a line of thunderstorms barreling down on us yesterday afternoon.
I quickly shot home in the jeep and fired up my own invention, the ol "RainAway" machine and bingo.
As soon as it fired up, the storm broke up and we got less than 1mm of rain.

Next you'll have to invent the 'SinkholeAway' machine ;D
