Well if you do you'd feel my pain................
After last weekend sitting through 24 dances of which she was in 2........It was great. Just keep smiling and think of the farm.
I then had the pleasure of sitting in the stinking rotten heat all day to watch a whole pile of other little darlings dance their hearts out to see her dance in another 3 out of 28 plus the grand finale and then the presentation.
Oh the JOY :'(
I love my daughter with all my heart and she will always be daddy's little girl, but wow............a bloke can only take so much!
Love you sweetheart, can't wait till next years :'( :'( :'(
Why can't she like guns and motorbikes like normal girls? ;D
-
I'll,raise you mate I have a son and daughter that are into dance. My son does 3 different styles
Swannie
-
I feel your pain !!! And to top it off, our concert isn't until mid December..so any chance of going away on early holidays is lost....
Oh well.....It'll all come back in goodness when she gets older. :cup: :cup:

I hear you.... I've even SMS'ed mates to call in bomb threat calls but the bastards wont do it...
Nothing like sitting there for 4 hours to watch 10 mins of your own kid.....
I've already been told that Australia Day, and Queens Birthday weekends are ****ed for next year.... :'(

Miss 4 & miss 7 have both been dancing since they were both 2. Miss 17 did it for a number of years too.
My older sister has been dancing (Ballet) non stop since she was 6, she's now 40. 10 years ago she became principal of her own school and now has a purpose built dance studio with over 300 students. My girls go to my sisters best friends school due to distance.
I know more about annual dance concerts than I wish I did. I reckon I've been to well over 45 individual dance concerts. As spectator, father, props maker, back stage, front of house, transport, you name it. Not to mention helping build a dance studio! All with 2 left feet.
Even had rehearsals yesterday and mum is away for the weekend. So dad had to step up again.
You've got it easy Brian.
-
I'm hearing you , my daughter is doing 8 dances and she also does 4 different dance styles.
-
Haha. Been there and done that. Tried hard to get my 10 year old daughter into something else, and it finally worked. I got her into Touch Footy now and she absolutely loves it. So do I.......
Still does dancing but now but back to only 1 concert per year and I am only expected to go for a couple of hours.
-
Did it for 3 years and still bare the scare! But it's what we do for our kids and worth every minute!
-
I'll raise you all from a child that dances, to the other half that teaches it! I am so SO glad that doesn't happen anymore lol
Cheers
Evo

Brian we were at our kids end of year dance concert yesterday. 38 acts and my daughter was in about the fourth dance and my son was in about the seventh last. What made it near on unbearable was it was at Hillsong and there was no bar >:D
-
l have 2 left feet & really Ugly shoes :'( >:D
-
Two daughters who dance! I have no hair but am now able to plaits and Pig tails.....
-
Miss T dances 3 nights a week in 4 different types. We've got the concert to look forward to in a few weeks, plus comps during the year. Thank god Mrs Tread does most of the ferrying around and the comps.
-
And to add to it what is with the ticket prices they charge. I asked my wife did they have an international act for the halftime break. I paid less for ACDC tickets last time they came out !!

agree totally!!!!
-
When I was a kid, my sister did calisthenics.
Our daughter swam competitively for 8 years.
I sympathise with you all......
-
My two girls danced from six to eighteen, I got roped into helping out at concerts and ended up building sets and stage managing concerts for about eight years. By the time we got to concert day I was well and truly over their dances. 300 kids, between 2 & 18, on and off stage, 2 full dress rehearsals, 4 concerts over two days with up to 20 set changes. Good thing is the youngest is a dance teacher and they have both made a group of good friends that they will have forever.
Me....... I just drink a lot of bourbon

Haha, the dancing club owners know exactly how much mum and dad will pay to see their little darlings dance. I would probably been driving a 200 now if I didn't have to pay all those fees
-
Yes another sufferer here, no it's not that bad, well that's what I keep telling myself. Not only is it the full dress rehearsal leading up to concert weekend, the two outfits, but it's the three trips into town to get to classes. As I don't work Monday to Friday I have the pleasure of the being the taxi driver for Miss 7 and here mates.
Apparently Miss 7 May be dropping all Genres of dancing and off to do Modelling, ah sheesh!
Regards
Angus.
-
Have managed to avoid this so far, daughter is musician ( trumpet, recorder ( who knew there was at least three different recorders), is in the school drum corp and wants to learn guitar......
-
Ah yes the memories
-
Haha
You all have it easy, I have two girls who do 5 classes 4 nights a week, including jazz, ballet, modern, contemp, hip hop, tap and acro!
They generally travel to 6 eisteddfods each year. My missus owned her own dance school for 10 years and now just teaches at the kids school.
I can't remember a day when I haven't found glitter or a feather on me somewhere, and I'm not that kinky!
I just sit back and watch the $$$ fly out of the wallet, a new costume for this or shoes for that. Fark!
But I love them and it seems to make them happy!

There are classes 4 nights a week, Eistedfords x 4 or 5 a year, individual comps, Jazz and Ballet exams, Concerts, performances at shopping centres and schools, Lord Mayors Christmas Carols and now she has started to teach on Saturday mornings........
No wonder I drink

Suffering it very slightly compared to you lot.
Miss 9 was doing it, but as she knew all the moves and other girls didn't, she lost interest and would complain how they got it wrong. Plus, the teacher had a go at us as she missed something when we went camping.
I wasn't allowed to talk to the teacher for some reason.... >:D
Now miss 5 is doing it, why, well mum does not want her to grow up saying "how come she go to do all this stuff...............". We have the concert this weekend, all day thing, and we have 2 5 min performances.
Luckily, mum had knee surgery the other day, sadly, we can't attend for the full day. ;D
-
Pain here also. It's our second year and I hope someone has mentioned the music doesn't need to be so loud. Last year it was ridiculous. Not sure if it is really loud so;
a) parents can't hear teachers screaming at the dancers
b) teachers can't hear parents complaining
c) kids can't hear mum going off a dad because he has asked "is this the last one?" again
d) to drown out dad's snoring
I don't mind watching everyone have a go but I couldn't understand why the big kids (15+) seemed to be out there more than the littlies.
-
Good onya mate, Tuff it out, been there done that with Daughter No#1 and looks like our youngest is getting the likes for dancing aswell as music lessons, Weve had a 12 year break in between so cant complain to much I guess..Just ask again me after the upcoming Christmas concerts . ;D

Miss 11, Miss 9 and Mrs are all dancing.
And as the end of year concert is in 3 weeks and Mrs is a sewer, the house if full with costumes in all stages of finishing.
Plus Miss 11 and Miss 9 are in synchronised swimming where Mrs is judging, the weeks and weekends are full.
Competition coming Saturday.

Daughter started dancing at age 4 (jazz. tap and ballet). Carried on right through school, and also took up cheerleading in highschool.
Now does cheer coaching 5 nights a week, but at least these days she drives herself.
Glad that's over with..
On a positive note, when she was learning to drive there was plenty of time to get her hours up
-
I've got two girls 9&11 both do cheerleading, that takes up 4 nights a week plus all day Saturday. It starts at the beginning of the year as try outs then training for new routines as the year goes on with competition in the last half of the year.
Competition are a weekend thing sometimes twice a month where we are there from early morning till late in the afternoon.. Happily this weekend is nationals, the last for this year but unfortunately it's down the Gold Coast with schoolies running a muck and it's for three days. Glad when this year over.
-
Yep..2 girls that love dance...but only the youngest does the performances! So we sat through a 3hr performance of which my youngest had 4 dances...wasn't too bad though..watching the young girls who seemed to have their own dance moves was hilarious and then seeing my daughter so happy with herself for having the guts to get up on stage was fantastic.
-
I am another that has a daughter that not only does dance, but Miss Snowflake also does cheerleading as well.
Glad have now finished cheer for the year (after all day on Sunday at a competition), now just got to get through the dance concert in a couple of weeks ;D
-
Miss 10 has been at her calisthenics or ballet I cant remember farewell party since 4!
-
Dance concert in a couple of weeks will see the end of our year thank Christ. Although I have to photograph the concert so, that means sitting through two shows and the living whilst I edit the images.........grrrr.

I am in my first year of concerts after being never re invited to the nieces concerts years ago. Apparently falling asleep face first on the table is not the done thing.
Ms 8 decided to take up karate and I thought I was safe then I find out that the karate class is in the end of yr concert as well (sensei and his wife own the dance school and the dojo). Now not only do I have to sit through the performance for miss 6 but he is in it as well. The worst part is that this whole term at karate has been learning their performance for the show, not learning defence. Grumble over.

Time to find another dojo mate, karate is a lot more than doing katas on a stage

Same here. Even better that I now have to work in the morning instead of hanging out with the young fella.

Ok So my Little image 13 (Not so little anymore) is in to dance. Monday night, Wednesday night (then Musical theatre) Thursday night then Friday night. School holidays are dance festivals ect.
This year we went to the USA to so she could dance at Disneyland and next year we are off to NY so she can dance on Broadway.
We have 3 concerts this weekend although we are only going to 2.
Now the 2 overseas trips in 2 years will cost us about $45-50K total.
The thing is I really love watching her do what makes her happy. So while it costs a bit and we have to watch all the others dance I still go to watch and enjoy. It is great to see how she has improved and also her friends have too.
And anyway tiny tots are a laugh.
Painful? yes a bit but wouldn't miss it for the world.

Well after six long hours at 30°C+ my princess was awarded the
"2014 Most Improved Dancer " at her dance school.
I am the proudest DAD in the world!!!!
-
All this dancing made my 3 girls (wife included) joining the Christmas Pageant Saturday.
It was a long day: arriving in CBD at 4.30pm, starting the pageant at 7.30pm, home at 11.30pm
All have sore feet from dancing but they all had a great time.
When watching it on television yesterday, my wife is now famous. They focussed on her for a long time. :-)
-
I am the proudest DAD in the world!!!!
No you're not I am.
But seriously you can be the 2nd proudest. Well done to your daughter.

We had the annual concert last Saturday.
The girls did well.
My youngest got the Scholarship Award. Now she can choose whatever she wants to do and it doesn't cost us anything for the whole year.

Not dancing but my 7 and 11yo's do gymnastics, had their end of year show on Saturday which was great. Their instructions did a performance as well and it was like watching Cirque D'Soleil , made we want to get my lazy arse up and do something.
-
Well I had to sit through 38 dances/songs to see my boy & girl in 4 of them! At least my 10 year old boy got a most improved & an encouragement award. Bloody funny seeing him dressed up as Elvis & then the cowboy from the village people though

9 & 7 yo daughters here. We've been doing ballet with them since the older one was 3. Jazz/tap/hip hop too, depending on the schedules. Both girls do piano and the older one does strings at school and has also done Creative Generation (Qld State schools tv stage show) last two years.... Younger one did soccer this year and looks like she wants to do that again this year. I kinda hope she takes up more sport and ditches the dance tbh!
-
My 8 & 10yr olds do acro gymnastics.... That has some dancing in it.... Otherwise i have nothing.
Some of the older ones are amazing to watch....moreso before they head off to the world championships
-
Sitting waiting for my daughter to dance at an eisteddfod. Kater this year we are taking her to New York so she can dance on Broadway
-
My gilrs did the Joondaup Festival parade on Saturday night with their dance school.
And they won again the Community Award. Not hard as they were the only group doing tricks and stuff, entertaining the crowd.
-
So this is my little girl and some of her dance school friends(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/04/b0fbd2a07942975720b7207b10a5f2b8.jpg)
And this is her by herself
(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/04/e684c739fd0484c6778e8af7ebb392cc.jpg)
And this is the group photo of them after they have danced on Broadway! Yep Broadway. Many people aspire to be on Broadway and at the age of 13 she has done that.

Ah good to see i'm not the only one.
My daughter dances at school ( its a subject believe it or not) and after school.
I don't dare ask how much it cost me on a weekly bases but I do know that the costumes for the concert in mid December is over a
$1000 :'(
To be honest she loves it so I'll back her 100%.
At the age of 14 she is already assistant teacher for the younger classes.
As a dance dad when we go to eisteddfods and the alike I can see what girls are doing wrong :-[ as well as your obligatory hair styles.
