Who else has a daughter that does dancing???
« on: November 23, 2014, 05:08:48 PM »
 :'(

Well if you do you'd feel my pain................

After last weekend sitting through 24 dances of which she was in 2........It was great. Just keep smiling and think of the farm.
I then had the pleasure of sitting in the stinking rotten heat all day to watch a whole pile of other little darlings dance their hearts out to see her dance in another 3 out of 28 plus the grand finale and then the presentation.
Oh the JOY :'(

I love my daughter with all my heart and she will always be daddy's little girl, but wow............a bloke can only take so much!
Love you sweetheart, can't wait till next years :'( :'( :'(

Why can't she like guns and motorbikes like normal girls? ;D

I feel your pain !!!  And to top it off, our concert isn't until mid December..so any chance of going away on early holidays is lost....

Miss 4 & miss 7 have both been dancing since they were both 2.  Miss 17 did it for a number of years too.

My  older sister has been dancing (Ballet) non stop since she was 6, she's now 40.  10 years ago she became principal of her own school and now has a purpose built dance studio with over 300 students.  My girls go to my sisters best friends school due to distance.

I know more about annual dance concerts than I wish I did.  I reckon I've been to well over 45 individual dance concerts.  As spectator, father, props maker, back stage, front of house, transport, you name it.  Not to mention helping build a dance studio!  All with 2 left feet.

Even had rehearsals yesterday and mum is away for the weekend.  So dad had to step up again.

You've got it easy Brian.

Haha. Been there and done that. Tried hard to get my 10 year old daughter into something else, and it finally worked. I got her into Touch Footy now and she absolutely loves it. So do I.......
Still does dancing but now but back to only 1 concert per year and I am only expected to go for a couple of hours.

Miss T dances 3 nights a week in 4 different types. We've got the concert to look forward to in a few weeks, plus comps during the year. Thank god Mrs Tread does most of the ferrying around and the comps.

And to add to it what is with the ticket prices they charge. I asked my wife did they have an international act for the halftime break. I paid less for ACDC tickets last time they came out !!

My two girls danced from six to eighteen, I got roped into helping out at concerts and ended up building sets and stage managing concerts for about eight years. By the time we got to concert day I was well and truly over their dances. 300 kids, between 2 & 18, on and off stage, 2 full dress rehearsals, 4 concerts over two days with up to 20 set changes. Good thing is the youngest is a dance teacher and they have both made a group of good friends that they will have forever.
Me....... I just drink a lot of bourbon

Haha, the dancing club owners know exactly how much mum and dad will pay to see their little darlings dance. I would probably been driving a 200 now if I didn't have to pay all those fees

Yes another sufferer here, no it's not that bad, well that's what I keep telling myself. Not only is it the full dress rehearsal leading up to concert weekend, the two outfits, but it's the three trips into town to get to classes. As I don't work Monday to Friday I have the pleasure of the being the taxi driver for Miss 7 and here mates.
Apparently Miss 7 May be dropping all Genres of dancing and off to do Modelling, ah sheesh!
Regards
Angus.

Haha

You all have it easy, I have two girls who do 5 classes 4 nights a week, including jazz, ballet, modern, contemp, hip hop, tap and acro!

They generally travel to 6 eisteddfods each year. My missus owned her own dance school for 10 years and now just teaches at the kids school.

I can't remember a day when I haven't found glitter or a feather on me somewhere, and I'm not that kinky!

I just sit back and watch the $$$ fly out of the wallet, a new costume for this or shoes for that. Fark!

But I love them and it seems to make them happy!
