We took a little trip out to Blacktown, to have a look at an Amarok, just to see what they were like, maybe have a drive, so Nessie is now the proud owner of a brand new 2011 VW Amarok Limited Edition, Natural Grey, rear sports bar, dual zone climate control, rear locker, window tint, 6 speaker stereo, black bumpers, fog lights.
To say she is chuffed, is an understatement ;D
The sad part, the Disco is now gone, traded in on the Amarok(http://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/smilies/icon_bigcry.gif)(http://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/smilies/icon_bigcry.gif)
I am really going to miss this car, she has taken us halfway around Australia, never let us down whenever we have toured this great land, towed our camper everywhere we wanted to go, done the tuff stuff and taken us to work
Goodbye old friend(http://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/smilies/icon_bigcry.gif)
Oh, here ya go, the ROCK :cup:

Nice work, I'm sure you'll get many more years of trouble free motoring from the new beast. :cup:

The disco must be a helluva lot better than the snail bait. Brother had one of those and looked after it really well but it was a piece of rubbish and lost a bomb when he sold it. Oh yeah was really uncomfortable too. I reckon the rock will roll ;D
-
Seeing a lot more amoraks on the roads down here.
Congrats. Sweet ride.
-
Have the staunch British types shown up to collect your Aulro membership card? ;D
Those Dubs will old Mr Toyota a run for his money I think. Very Nice.

Baz. Congratulations Mate
It's amazing how we can get emotionally attached to our cars, must be a male thing ;D
Look to the future mate I'm sure the "rock" will serve you well for many years to come
-
Congrates on the new family member, sit down tonight with a cold one and remember all those tough tracks you did with the Disco!!!!
Cheers,
Disco Teddy

i like those v/dubs as well but i cant bear the thought of letting the hilux go
-
Thanks everyone, I'm sure Nessie will have many years of fun in the Rock.
We haven't picked it up yet, it's getting detailed and having it's pre-delivery stuff done as well as rego transfer, will be picking it up in a week or so. soon as she picks it up, it goes in for a bullbar and winch, snorkle and a UHF :cup:
Today we are taking stuff out of the Disco and cleaning it up a bit.

I almost bought a limited edition the other month but as they are so big i thought i would check that it fits in the garage, and it didn't so on hold till we get a new house next year although they are doing some good deals on the few limiteds that are left.

Congrats on the Rock, they are a good looking package. I would like to have test driven one, but I am a Toyota man, so just couldn't do it.

Congrats Baz,
We took an Amarok for a test last week. Very nice build quality and ride. I did feel that the torque band is very narrow and if you are not watching it was easy to get caught out in the wrong gear with no go. But when it was on song it was reasonably quick. Overall I did like the Amarok except the price and some basic inclusions that should be standard but cost extra. Like $900 for bluetooth.
Anyway looking forward to the buildup and hope you get it dirty soon.

Well Done Baz, now you can rock & roll & not drip oil all over the country  :cup:

Yes I did notice that myself, Nessie is coming from a Toyota Camry and they have a similar torque/power band, so she shouldn't really notice it too much, the other thing I noticed was off the mark they were a tad dull, but I guess something that she will get used too.
Overall they are pretty good and the Ltd Edition package had everything she wanted and is cheaper that going for a standard Trendline, which I found odd, she opted for the iPod connection over the Bluetooth which was $600 extra.
I'm pretty sure Nessie will be happy, she will be tagging along with us to the High Country at Christmas, it should have a Bullbar, winch and UHF by then and maybe a snorkle hopefully.
OK, so yesterday we took everything off the Disco, we left the roof racks, bullbar, winch, dual battery system and Aux battery, antenna and UHF in the car.
This morning coming to work, not a bloody sound from the car, no rattles at all, pretty darn good considering it's age and nearly 300,000ks.

Yeah the bluetooth option is standard across all VW models. It is pretty funny as my mates Toerag doesn't have it and my Prado does standard.

Just going to highlight that this is not our car, this is our daughters car, she looked at all the dual cabs, including the Defender, in the end it was her decision and we supported her decision, we did not care what she was going to choose, this is why we gave her the Disco to use as a trade.
Normally I don't get attached to vehicles and that includes motorcycles and bikes are my passion, but for some reason that I don't understand, I am really going to miss our Disco, after all it's only a car, it may be that we have toured more places with it than all the other vehicals we have had, anyway it will be gone soon and we will have another vehical in 9 days time.
I hope that our next vehical takes us to all the places we went in the Disco and more and I really hope Nessies new Amarok does too, because she really deserves it.

SWEET 8) Congrates Baz, Let the mods begin. ;D

The only disappointing features for me was no audio control on the steering wheel (believe this is added in MY12), no bluetooth (a basic feature these days) and the fact that you cant read the radio screen with polarised glasses (which of course I have). Also the gear box takes a bit of getting used to but you get that jumping between cars otherwise it drove the best of all the Ute's I test drove and the indicators are on the correct side although I still turned the wipers on when turning (sad since both our cars are European).

"anyway it will be gone soon and we will have another vehical in 9 days time."
does this mean the D4 is about to arrive soon ?
I think Ness has made a good choice and hope she gets to enjoy great run from the "Rock".

I don't know about being a male thing getting attached to cars. I love cars too. This morning I saw one of those rocks drive down our street, and I was suitably impressed, it looks really great. cheers Rellbell

Thanks Howard, I think she has too, I wanted to give her the Disco as a trade, just to help her out a bit more so she could add a few more accessories.
Yes, we pick the D4 up next Wednesday.

I don't think you have to be male to become emotionally attached to your car. I still mourn the sale of our Ford Falcon XC Rally Pack 351 (White), 22 years ago. He had convinced me that we could get a wagon and the kids could sleep in the car when we go skiing/camping. I don't think either of the kids ever did. Ahh she (XC) had a fantastic exhaust note. cheers rellbell

The Rok Ness Monster, (knicknamed this by the guys on AusAmarok forum) is in the driveway, holy crap it is huge ;D
