There are 8 of them on the first 2 pages of the classifieds. Why is this so ???

Good question , and has a very simple answer.

When you look for caravans for sale there are lots and lots of Jaycos for sale  WHY. it's called market share.

Trackabout trailers are IMHO the best soft floor camper and as such they sell tarilers all over austraila not just within the state they are manufactured in.

This means that if manufacturer X  sells 10 units per year and you see 1 for sale.

And Trackabout sells 100 units you will see 10 for sale. You get the picture

As stated same as jayco they have a 50+% market share so there are heaps second hand .Commodoore ,ford heaps second hand .Subaru,VW ect not so many its a simple case of Market share IMHO.

Bloody good for 2nd hand buyers though they get the best soft floor out there and get to pick the best one going and scopre a good deal.

As for me mine is for sale as we are moving away from a soft floor other than that reason I would always have a Trackabout.

Jetcrew, I hope you are only comparing Trackabout and Jayco for market share only and not quality.  lol

There are a few turning over because of the initial cost. They are such good value that many are buying them as their first CT and then updating. And the hold their value well because of the quality.

You're obviously not looking to buy a Trackabout because if you were I bet there would be none for sale.....at least none in your state! Isn't that always the way?

(edit: I'm not looking for one, just saying).

Numbers for sale of any brand will also depend on where you look.
Trackabouts are just one of the more numerous here
http://www.caravancampingsales.com.au/

Another factor might be how long the brand has been manufactured.
To me, it seems half the "manufacturers" in Sydney are really just assemblers putting together tents from X, trailers from Y and bits from A,B, C, etc.

As to holding value, it is really what a buyer will pay in my opinion. My 2c is that buyer education will bring a lot of prices down.
