Yeah I fill up the floor, we have an oze trail style marquee, an aluminium table in a bag and a BBQ on the floor under, around the table and then if camping with the dog we throw our two car fridges in the kitchen (we have 2 12v outlets) on the side of the cabinet that the fridge sits in.

Do you put anything underneath to prevent it sliding around? Also, is your BBQ a Baby Q100? Be interested where people store their BBQ?

Also, does the Honda 2kva fit in the front storage compartment? :cheers:

regarding the bed.. We've got the innerspring mattress on the front of the hawk, and i tried having our visco mattress topper on it (best $300 ever spent from clarkrubber) - but the top wouldn't close properly. the additional height (about 2") of the topper was stopping the lid coming down because of where the door folds up onto the roof. I actually cracked the plastic on the front nearside corner doing this (warranty fixed it!)

No we don't put anything on the floor, it's pretty much packed tight and that stops it.  Sorry it's not a baby Q it's rectangular with a hood and wedges quite nicely under the table with the annex matting.  Don't know about the Gennie, I don't have one and the front is where we keep the annex sides and folding chairs.

I pack the Weber on the floor in a bag along with anything else I cant fit in the car.I but some non slip
matting under anything that could slide around and bash into the cupboards.Have had any problems yet.
I put the heavier things on or behind the axle so as to not end up weighing the back of the car more.
When we go away and take the honda gennie I put it in the van as they dont seem to put any fumes
out when the vent is off.Just to be careful I will open up the van and let some air in before I start the
fridge on gas.Like some others I tahe the doona off to get the top to seal well on dirt roads.Hope you
enjoy the new rig when it turns up.

Same as most other replies, we leave sheets and blankets on beds, any think stuff goes on the dinning area (pillows thick doona's). We have an innerspring quenn bed with a woolen underlay (very cosey and softens the crappy innerspring ;D).

On the floor we store a few buckets (used for bathing our little girls), and sometimes the weber Q100 in a duffle bag, usually ontop of our annex area rubber matting to stop it all sliding around. Also the porta cot for our youngest seems to wedge nicley under the dinning table. For rougher trips on dirt roads i strap the weber in its bag to our roof cage on the Patrol.

Like Bushy said get some cheap tarps for those days you have to pack up with wet canvas >:(

Once you have it set up the way you want it with everything you need, trips away will be so easy! We finally had a weekend without rain and went away just for one night. Thats what i love about my Jayco, its always packed ready to go, just throw some clothes bags in the car, basic food in the Waeco and we are good for a relaxing weekend away.

June for us is the trip north to the cape with the 4WD club, we were planning on catching up with you guys for a few days on either side of the trip but was waiting till closer to talk about it, but yeah definately something,

Hey Teabag

A gennie wont fit in the front boot its only the width of fold up chairs in there bags which is were use to put ours.

We use to just throw our bedding on the couch as it was easier to latch the roof down if your a bit lazy on how neat you fold the canvas up  ;D it also made for a quicker pack up IMO  :D

Also when folding the camper up and pushing the beds back in just make sure the canvas is clear of the bed runners as its easy for the canvas to get pinched when pushing the beds in, which wil pierce the canvas.

I'm going down to Gold Coast in mid Jan to get mine (as long as the Bruce stays flood free....). Hard thing is, it's sitting there waiting for pick up now  :'(  Return journey will be a good shakedown - it will need it's first 'service' by the time I get back.   Bought it fairly stock (flys, bag awning & roof rack) and will do the mods up here.  I'll get in touch with the guy on here that does a stone guard, as I will be cruising right past his neck of the woods...

Hello All

After reading 13 pages of pro's and con's no one brought up that fact that the 2 have different bench heights. How does the hawk go with the very low bench height? Does it get annoying and give 6 foot people a saw back?

Still liking the hawk for the kids safety in the kitchen.

does the eagle have a higher bench? The bench in the hawk *is* a little low (i'm 6'3"), but the wife is only 5'1" so it's the ideal height for her doing the cooking (checks to make sure she's not behind me)

I think the bench heights are the same. They are determined by the height of the van itself, which is the same.

Yea plus a case of late night typing,

No the hawk is actually lower cause of the tap on the sink actually is under the beds when folded in meaning the tap has to be lower i thing the bench is around 600mm high and the eagle is around 750mm from memory.
