These guys and girls deserve the best gear money can buy, they put their lives on the line every time they answer the call
Great stuff  :cup: :cup:
They do deserve to have the very best.
The fires of 2019 showed how under resourced many units were(yet they did amazing things) and how out of date their equipment was, and still is in some Brigrades.

A lot has changed mate.
Any equipment that needs repairing, replaced, bring it to the attention of the Maintenance officer, he puts in a submission, and the paper is signed off and it's sorted.
Brigades usually have a day to day account, they can purchase equipment and be reimbursed. eg, chainsaw chains, files, axes, spare air filters(vehicles) etc.
Then there is allocated upgraded PPE gear that turns up, helmets, Masks/ etc.
The next upgrade will be radio/comms, each member will be gps tracked(in vehicle screens, area command will be able see where each member is).

Didn’t the comedian Celeste Barber start a fundraising campaign that raised 10s of millions of $$$$, was donated to the RFS. Was a big kick up as due to legalities they couldn’t pass the money onto the people that lost houses etc.

Is that why they are finally spending up big on gear??

As I understand things,
The money she riased was for Victims of the Fires, however The RFS was able to secure 30M$ from that for a trust that helps RFS Members who are injured on the fire ground.
Eg, A member, a casual employee(timber mill) who suffered horrific injuries(stepped into a burnt tree stump), lost from his waist down.
He couldn't afford his mortgage, his marriage broke up, he suffered depression, he took his own life.
An investigation found, all he needed was $300 a week to help financially, would of made a difference, a good chance he would be alive to today, still married, still with his kids.
Our Brigrade Captain sits on that trust, it is invested to provide assistance to members injured while volunteering.
The money being thrown at the RFS is State & Federal governments finally taking responsibility.

She did a brilliant job of raising money, but not a brilliant job on legally setting it up to go where and how she intended.  As in Rags post it became a legal nightmare.

Between that and the donations to other Charities(who held onto money for their themselves and for another rainy/firey day) a lot of people are now reluctant to donate.
Cheers

No, not State and Federal money, it is the money raised by Celeste Barber.  The money is being slowly spread across the State.   Last year each Brigade was allocated $10,000 to purchase what they needed/wanted.   There is more of the donation money still to be spent by the RFS.   They are trying to work out how.

I was under the impression that they were still fighting over it(money raised).
I saw Wednesday, our State member announcing money for the Upgrade of Grafton Airport at Six Mile Lane for planes to use as a staging base.
Along with monies from the state towards RFS equipment throughout the Clarence Valley.  Hmmm.

Google Maps to fix directions after years of trapped travellers around Burketown

That'd be a happy truck driver.

Sitting at Point Danger this morning chilling to the veiws . then from a spot a few cars over comes this " Rev rev " definately somthing Italian snarly engine noise, Obviously being controled by someone that cant quite work it out how to use it ..Couldnt see the car but took a guess .. Ferrari something ?? ..
Then O'l mate Swanker rises up inbetween the parked cars and a second later up pops Dittsy Bimbette holding a thing that looked like a it used to be a poodle ..........Before  it was put through a cement mixer filled with sharp rocks ..
Wannabe Rich Kid for a day and his Floozy in a rental Ferrari, Uhuh Yep !
He had the pierre cardan sweater thing happening over the terrence trent darby open shirt and the $2 shop sunnies, She was trying to walk in the heels poking the scrawny arse out of the short shorts like she was broken at the waist ..
Two minutes later back in the rental Floggarri, Dont think O'l mate was used to driving a manual " Rev rev rev " a hey look at me and off in    the Kangarrari they went  like two Wannabe Rich Bobble heads ..
Couldnt help but smile and make a few rev rev Ferrari sounds out the window nice and loud as I started up our Toyota Ravarri for the crowd of sight see'rs  ..
Missus gave me the cold stare as she ducked below the window  " You Bloody idiot " .. I was Revin and revin all   ;D ;D ;D as we drove off ..
You too can have a Floggarri for $950 a day ..

Fukk off, don't lob me in with Edz.

So  friggin what Edz, the kid hired a car for the day..... good on him.
Maybe it was his girls birthday or something, trying to show her a decent day out.
Who hasn't hired a bag of fruit to attend a wedding.
Same deal.... what about if you rent a house, where does that fall in the mix of things.

The entire post reeks of a very jealous person who can't afford to hire a decent car themselves.

Great news for us ( daughter mainly) this week.
Out year 12 daughter does Ag as part of her year 12 studies at school.
She absolutely loves it.  ;D
This week, she was asked by a well known cattle breeder up near Grafton to accompany her to help show her cattle at the Ekka in Brisbane this year  :cup:

To say she is happy is an understatement  ;D ;D
