Replacement jets for dometic three burner hob?
« on: October 25, 2020, 04:03:09 PM »
I’ve got a three burner gas hob by dometic. I want to source some replacement gas jets but can’t seem to find any. Does anyone know of a supplier? I have googled but can’t seem to find any. Thanks in advance, cheers.

I’ve taken them out and cleaned the and the gas pipe. Still performs poorly. I thought it would be simple to ge5 replacements but even the site suggested above doesn’t list them.

This is the hob https://www.caravansplus.com.au/spare-parts-diagram-cramer-3-burner-hob-p-15283.html

Cheers and thanks.

This might just be the way the hob is. Have a good google and you might find a lot of reports of the same thing, the cook top takes a long time to heat things. Some say drill the jet holes slightly bigger, but slightly. Some say use better cookware that transfer heat better.  I have yet to try hooking it up with a short hose from a gas bottle to the hob to see if a short run gives any better heat.

Has it always been this bad?  If possible can you try a different regulator?

Are you only running the cooktop? Do the other appliances work ok.
I’m guessing you have a 2 stage regulator and the 1st stage which is an over pressure regulator has done its job and as a result renders the regulator buggered and needs replacement.

Unfortunately I can't get access to it at the moment.  I have not been happy with the way it performs. Sometimes I think it has heated better but the wife says it's all in my head.  I was thinking the gas pipe feeding it is to small, but have been told it is standard for the installation. So was going to try the short hose experiment or hooking another gas appliance to the pipe and see if that works.

Someone suggested this. I have tried a "reset" on the regulators. Involved disconnecting them, leaving a while, connecting them back up, then turning on in sequence, slowly so as to not have a surge of gas. If it did anything it was not really noticeable. I'm thinking going to the old high pressure gas cooker in the shed and not using the Cooktop.

It’s in my Defender. It was there when I bought it. I’ve always thought it was a pretty asthmatic which is why I cleaned the jets and pipes but no real difference. I’ll try a different regulator and see how that goes.

Changed my jets a few months ago to .65 from I think .47 (3 burner stove from Domenic) in a pioneer camper on a slide out kitchen.
A lot of difference.
I am sure the cook top is designed for indoors with no breeze to take away the heat.
it was always poor/slow to heat.

For just one jet....and the wrong size as well.....$40.

Another member of a different forum has bought one on ebay for $9.....I can't find it...but waiting for a reply from him.

Have seen the 2 different size jets in searching around. Think it was an English site but were expensive.  Did changing them create a larger flame size? Have heard a larger flame could cause a problem around the edges of the cooker. No problem like that Baz? Where did you get the bigger jets?

I have a Spinflo 4 burner stove which are made by Dometic in the Aussie Swag. Basically not enough heat from the larger burners to properly cook a steak on a cold night. I had a long chat with a Dometic guy at a recent  Melb Caravan and Camping show. These stoves originally came out with .62 size jets, which were later upgraded to .67 jets.  This sizing is due to the stoves being set up for inside a caravan and the maximum allowable dangerous gasses emitted by an unvented gas appliance. He said I could go larger being as the stove is outside, but that he wouldn't go any bigger than .70 jet. Ebay has numerous retailers that sell universal gas cook top nipples and you should be able to find them easily. I went to .70 on 2 burners and either will satisfactorily sear a steak now, no matter what the weather is like.

Update. Regulator is fine. Thanks Filcar and corn dog. Looks like a continued search for bigger jets. Your experience mirrors mine filcar so I am grateful for the advice.

I was about to say I have a Dometic stove on my camper and I will not use it as it is a pain in the a$$. Takes forever to heat anything e.g. 25 minutes to make a coffee in my Snowpeak coffee thingo whereas about 5-10 mins on a lunchbox butane gas cooker. I cleaned the jets out and still the same. I use the same gas bottle/reg to run my Joolca and it has no issues getting enough gas to run perfectly.
I think I will be ditching it and looking for an alternative.

Similar experience here. I’m going to try sourcing some bigger jets before I give up on it.

The next question is finding a suitable replacement. My camper has a tailgate steel kitchen so am thinking I will replace the whole shebang with a purpose bult ply one (once I get my woodworking shed up and running) built around the replacement stove. Liking the Lido one at the moment though haven't done any real research into it.

Could you just source any size jets and drill them out?

Our tailgate kitchen has the Lido Junior fitted and we have had no issues with it, in fact the exact opposite it works well, sadly only a two burner.
