No Jamb Hitches
« on: August 01, 2019, 04:21:03 PM »
Is there any such thing as a non jambing hitch  when unhitching ?

I've used Ozz hitch, 50mm ball hitch and they both jamb.  >:( Ive seen the McHitch easy glides jamb.
So is there a hitch that doesn't jamb if you're slightly off level, and don't even mention those stupid polly block things.

I haven't experienced any issues with my DO35 and we've been on some weird camp sites.

I think most of them you will have to fawk around with - there is no perfect hitch...

I got one of these works well for us and rarely get flat ground... 360 degree gig helps if your a little out of line, you can turn the head of the unit around different ways to get it on the ball.

I had an Oz hitch on my last camper and never had a problem in 6 yrs. After you take the pin out, there is no way in hell it could jamb ??

I prefer it over the present DO35 that I have.

I’ve had my fun with the various types too, but my current DO35 has yet to cause me any frustration.

I have a DO35 and it's been a dream, often needed to hammer the pin out of a poly block if we parked on a slope. With a DO35 if you find that raising the jockey wheel is lifting the car up, just add a bit of weight to the back of the car and the hitch drops out.

x2 on above...just line it up and lower it on, or wind it up and off it pops...worst case scenario you might need to once in a blue moon stand on the bumper of the tow rig if it didn't release straight away and it'll pop right off, maybe done that a handful of times in 8 years of camper ownership.

The Treg hitch on our KK is 15yrs old, still going and never had an issue with it. Thought about replacing it a few times but everything else has too many moving parts and things to go wrong. KISS principal wins for me.

DO35 is a dream, not one issue in the two years of use so far, best upgrade to the camper we have done.

Most camp sites down there are completely empty this time of the year too. :P

another vote for the DO35. Hands down the easiest hitch I've ever had. Have never had it jam, and you don't need to be perfectly aligned to connect.

Poly block every time for us. Cheap tough and reliable as well as dead easy to hitch and unhitch once you learn the trick of putting the jockey wheel down facing sideways.

And yes, I know the OP said don't mention them...

I think part of the issue is that heavy wobbly boxes arent as easy to budge that last little bit by hand as a lighter camper is, also, those who have "graduated" to them are often not as strong as they used to be.
