Dunno where to start with why mines better than yours  ;D so I'll just tell you what mine doesn't do..

Mine doesn't blow 5th gear.

It doesn't suck kg's of dust in through the back doors.

It doesn't rattle till the rear hinges crack.

The spare wheel carrier doesn't crack either.

The wheel studs don't break off and make me roll over and over.

The turbo doesn't fall to bits.

and the engine doesn't suddenly melt down..

The other thing it doesn't do nearly as badly either is depreciate.

 :cup:

You must obviously drive a TOYOTA  Joff !! ;D ;D

I thought he was talkin about his Camper TRAILER

I've heard of the lazy LSD's (I have one) and the front diff (but only in the 105's) but never the 5th gear or cross member (unless you are talking about the 100 series IFS fragility after a lift)

Anyhoo, when there are dozens of folks forking out tens of thousands of dollars each to rebuild hand grenade 3.0ltr motors and even more limping around in 4th cause the idler shaft spline no longer exists (my mate is currently and another just had to do the rebuild), then we can have a debate  :cheers:

By the way, I forgot one.

My cooling system doesn't fly so close to the wind that it can't handle a short summertime hill climb with a load on the back  8)

was watching a bit on the Australian Safari yesterday, was very good to watch.

However;

1st = Holden Rodeo running injected V8
2nd = Humble GU Patrol 4.8
3rd - 5th = Rodeos and Tritons
6th = Humble GQ Patrol (not sure what it was running)
7th = New Landcrab Ute V8 turbo diesel
etc,etc,etc

So big flash new landcrab well and truly beaten by a GU Patrol, AND by an over 20 yr old GQ

GO THE TROLS :)
Cheers, Craig

Who cares?

Not me

I still NOT LIKE TROLS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its alright for ppl taller but for shorter ppl they aren't any good.
I can't even see the bullbar on the Trols.
The other thing is there is not room in the front of the Trol Ute for
three of us.

So get real  >:D >:D >:D >:D

Without getting into what's best for a tick, this comment surprises me, i thought the Patrol single cab was pretty good for room compared too the 78 series cruiser, the cruiser was marginally better than the Defender for room i thought.

I'm sorry to say Redback for me it wasn't.
The new toyo ute sit up higher and i can see the whole bullbar as in the trol ute i could only see bits of it and had to sit forward to see anything.

Even across the seat width doesnt' seem to be as wide as the toyo ute (new one).
We have check both out, as the other week end we went to rocky and had to time to look at the Trol ute.
Hubby, 15 yr old and the guy from the nissan place where in the trol and there was no room for the three of them.  The saleman couldn't get first gear, he tried takin off in third, not once but about three times.  We've taken the toyo ute for a drive and didnt' have that prob.  >:D

Yep, Patrols must be Shit, that's why you see so many in the comp scene.  Great value for money, strong drive train, a diff that won't crumble at the sight of engaging 4wd, IFS in the front (must be a soft roader). So I guest your right Joff, all these comp guy's have got it sooooooo wrong...... ;D

Some years ago I did quite a bit of rallying. My favourite car in those days was the venerable Holden (Isuzu) Gemini. Great little car for rallying; an engine that would rev till the cows came home, you would shift gears when you couldn’t stand the noise anymore. A gearbox that would only give out in the syncro’s after many hard miles. A diff that in all the years I was involved with Gemini’s I never saw blow. A rear end that, driven aggressively, would hang on to almost any road and a tough front end that never ceased to amaze me.

Why were, and still are if my mail is correct, these little rust buckets so good? Well there were a few reasons but not one of them had anything to do with the cars intended vocation. It wasn’t a particularly good commuter because it was plagued with lecky trouble. It had lousy resale because it was prone to cancer. Out of the box, it handled pretty ordinarily understeering like a HQ. The window winders were too short and broke often, they too leaked dust like the proverbial sieve. Sans seam welding and bracing, they would eventually cave in in the front to the point where they had so much camber the front tyres would chew out in 5,000 km. The front lower ball joints would need to be welded in almost from factory because they pop out. Oh! And the steering column wasn’t square in the car (that was a bit of engineering genius).

So why were they used, well I’ll tell you. They were great value for money, strong drive train, a diff that won't crumble at the sight of a big rev’n’drop around a rocky corner. And there was one other BIG reason; there were tonnes of em lying around in WRECKING YARDS.

Sound familiar??  8)

Comp and real life are worlds apart. BTW I didn’t see one Comp Trol crabbing it’s way up the Oondy track recently  ;D

Yep, and you see millions of Gemini's at the Cape etc?  The relevance?????....Bwahahaha

PS: Jason, I see you have seen the light and now drive a Nissan.  Has that something to do with car safety?  Buy a trillion dollar vehicle and they seem prepared to compromise your safety, go figure.....I guess it's a Toyota thing......hehehehe

Please remember this is a BullShit threat to keep it out of individual members threads.

We all have our alliance to vehicle / camper trailer manufactures and so be it.

Instead of telling us why the others are so bad, why don't you tell us why your's is so good..... 8)
